Oh, where do I begin? This is the most pretentious restaurant we have been to, and it has absolutely no right to be so. The food was ok at best; the deluxe meat cut (priced at 11, 600 YEN) was good for two cuts. The others were so over seasoned and marinated that you could choke on the sauce. The last and most expensive cut was cut by a blind kid. It was pure rubber.we also ordered wagyu beef tartare they gave us a freezer burnt frozen solid package of meat in plastic alont with the seaweed still in plastic completely inedible for 30 min waiting on it. The drinks progressively got smaller, and my last was maybe a half pour at best. This was after asking about the 12-year whisky and being told that I couldn't have it with soda, and then the waitress just walking off. After 6 minutes, I buzzed again and was told they didn't have it in stock. The staff are by far the absolute worst I have had in any restaurant while traveling in over 40 countries. They actively avoided us and we had a large pile of dishes stacked. At the end, where we had 5 servers come by with items never clearing anything, it sat for 42 minutes before being taken at the end of our meal. It was a cold, dead, and extremely uncomfortable environment. I would recommend that people avoid this overpriced horrible excuse of a restaurant if they can at all cost. After 300usd+ here, I'm going to a hole in the wall ramen shop to get real food by an actual chef and good...
Read moreGreat lunch time service (11:30-15:00). Had the Wagyu Beef Loin set the first time, and the Two Types (short ribs and loin) of Wagyu Beef set a few months later (both come with rice, kimchi, soup, salads, small sides) for JPY 1,340 / 1,490 plus tax and it was absolutely delicious. Quickly served, too. There's an English lunch menu and even single guests are welcome, which is not always true for this kind of restaurant.
However, at least with the lunch sets (even the JPY 4950 Kobe beef set), you can't get a second helping of rice. Come on, what does it cost you, 50 Yen? Probably less! Minus one star for that - you can order a second meat portion but why would you do that if you have no more rice to go with it?
Edit: 3 years later, I'm still coming to this place and it's still great. Still very affordable. Skip the Kobe beef that they introduced a while ago and just go with the normal wagyu. It doesn't taste much different, if at all, but the cost difference is huge. The attached images show once wagyu and once Kobe beef (with the flower) - but different meat cuts (and...
Read moreDisappointing.
Don’t advertise an English menu if your wait staff can’t really or won’t (?) speak some English or take care of their foreigner customers. There’s no way cold noodles takes longer to make than a bibimbap. Making us wait almost 30 minutes for cold noodles on our set menu course just ruins the experience. Train all your staff to learn how to process foreign cards instead of insinuating our credit cards don’t work.
Context: We ordered the Kobe course and was really excited for it but the wait staff could not be less enthused about us not speaking Japanese or looking like typical foreigners. If you’re an Asian foreigner who don’t speak Japanese, I highly do not recommend this place. We spent so much money and basically got the most mid service that just brought down the food and...
