A TOURIST TRAP!!!!!!!

We visited Lucy’s cafe on 30th August, as we were in Amsterdam for the day and have been there before two years ago and really enjoyed our experience and the dessert and drinks.

This time round though it was very different. We purchased two cold drinks, two hot drinks, a tiramisu and three chocolate cacao desserts. On the board it said the amount for the drinks and said cakes were 9 euro so we knew how much roughly the total would be. When it came to payment, the staff member just inputted it all on the till and as soon as we’d paid, my travel card notification came up with an amount of 89 euros!

Straight away we asked for the receipt as we knew something was very wrong! We are from the UK and for sure know four drinks and four desserts does not cost £68! Soon as we got the receipt, the same staff member who served us suddenly disappeared. We then checked reviews on Google and were horrified to see the bad reviews from other people. We just wished we had checked prior to going. For a start, the cafe was completely dead so maybe that was a warning sign.

When we asked the other member of staff how much the same dessert is, he said 14 euros, then said 9 euros, so clearly the costs are made up on the spot.

Such an awful experience and a shame to see how the place has gone. Would...

The price of the chocolate fudge has risen not in proportion to the quality. I taste sand in the cake, very dangerous because you can get worms. Unsanitary. Expensive for garbage. You get half of the pie slice piece they used to give in the past. The pie slice cake holder which should be filled, is half empty with the little piece you get now for that too expensive price. I told the staff about it but they just don't care about feedback from a loyal customer. I used to come a long way from Amstelveen Noord-Holland to the Rokin Amsterdam in order to buy the chocolate fudge cake of LUCY'S cheesecake but now it isn't worth even a bit. I now buy the chocolate lover cake at Starbucks which is of normal size, sanitary...

A quaint, cozy place you wouldn't expect to find in the big city. I've gone twice now, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. As one could expect, there is more to choose from earlier in the day.

Their raspberry cheesecake is delightful, very similar to the traditional New York style of cheesecake that I know and enjoy. I've also had their brownie cheesecake, which was good but I would definitely choose the raspberry instead. Their latte was delish.

This is a fantastic meetup spot for some friends or a great date place to grab some dessert. It's pink atmosphere makes it a fun environment to enjoy yourself in. They also accept Visa so that's a bonus as that isn't always...

I googled gluten free dessert and this gem popped up. So happy we went. Beautiful pink decor, happy staff and the BEST ICED TEA in all of europe and the UK. Peach flavored was so tasty, fresh mint leaves and actual ice cubes, multiple. Not like 1 cube which is the normal everywhere. So nice to get an actual ICED drink. Now on to the pastries! I was able to get a gluten free cheesecake, went for the lime and ate it on the spot! Creamy, lightly sweet and perfect tartness. 10 of 10. Ordered the caramel cheesecake to go. Ate it many hours later and my only regret was not getting more!! WOW! It was silky, sweet, and decadent. Thanks!
