We eat here regularly when in Cusco. The menu price is good budget and includes a small varied salad, soup, bread, main and a mate to drink. The atmosphere is friendly with the other patrons and it is filled at lunch time regularly. The a la carte menù had a variety of meat substitute and vegetable options including egg based. You can get meatless versions of some Peruvian classics here. The tofu is a bit weird tasting in my opinion but I think this is mainly due to the problem of Soy sauce in Peru; it is difficult to find fermented soya sauce and this affects the flavour of foods combined with it. The menu del dia is good and value for money. For about 12 PEN you get salad (self serve), a soup and a main course (option of soya meat chicharon, yuca potato or a puréed beans with a vegetable patty and rice) & a purple corn (chicha morada) drink.
For me, they were able to cater most dishes to Jain/no allium (no onion, no garlic). I ordered the quinoa chaufa. It was ok, taste wise I would give it 6/10. But the friendly service makes this place an 8! They accept credit card.

During my almost two week stay in Cusco, I ate at El Encuentro several times (for lunch and dinner). The day menu is the way to go during lunch. At dinner, I suggest the Lomo Saltado (very delicious!!) and Bistek a lo Pobre. The other dishes I tried were also delicious, but these were outstanding.
The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is very cool, with pretty decoration and amazing music (I shazamed some songs).
