This is truly a hidden gem -- don't be fooled by the nondescript exteriors, shy servers and the fact that it's a bit tucked away in a not very fancy area -- the food here is EXCELLENT -- taste, presentation, ideation are all on par with top level restaurants around the world (not just Cusco, which is already a bit of a foodie destination). The chef worked at many restaurants for many years before starting this place (his family is also made of chefs), so you really are in good hands. We are not vegan (or even vegetarian) but they had meat options too and they were great. I had one of the best risottos ever, the lasagna is very creative, and I can eat their huacatay sauce every day all day. They use local produce from small local farms, ensuring they are benefiting their communities and not big companies. Just on potatoes & corn alone, Peru is a country that has many varieties (you can see them on display at the restaurant) -- and the restaurant aims to bring this richness & diversity in ingredients to its food. We found this place because of Daniel and will always be grateful for his hospitality, but also enthusiasm and education on his...
Read moreThis restaurant was a highlight of Cusco! I ate there on my first day shortly after checking in at my hotel nearby. Daniel welcomed me and made me feel like family from the minute I walked in the door. He shared all about the menu's vegetarian options and his vision for the restaurant, it's sourcing, the decor, and gave wonderful recommendations. I ordered some veggie tacos with avocado and a quinoa soup that he said was a regional favourite. I ended up meeting up with Daniel the next day as well and got a personal tour through the city, making a new friend. I intended to return for more delicious food after completing my 5-day Salkantay trek but plans changed due to unexpected illness. Such a shame--I'll have to return! This place is the real deal--wholesome, healthy food by some of the kindest people you'll ever meet! Good for...
Read moreMy wife and I walked down from Sacsayhuamán in search for food on a wet afternoon. We stumbled across this place and we are sure glad that we did! Everything about this place is so good: the service, food, and vibe. Unfortunately, I think we prevented the cooking staff from eating their lunch at their expected time and there were no other customers at 2:00 PM. Despite this, the server welcomed us in and the cooks cooked for us before sitting down to eat themselves. Every dish that we got was top notch. The place seems family-run, as there were 2 kids going in and out of the kitchen. If you are walking down from Sacsayhuamán, check this place out. This place would give some of the best restaurants in Lima a run for their money. Very highly...
