Bar Tomate — Restaurant in Madrid

Rude service. We arrived and they told us the kitchen opens at 2pm. So we said we were happy to wait and we will have some drinks until then. We were seated outside but no drinks menu came out. At this time of day, there were only a handful of diners and a lot of waiters and waitresses standing around. After 20 minutes waiting, we flagged down a waitress for a drinks menu which she gave us, she was seemingly annoyed and she went in and never came out. After 15 minutes of having the menu, no one had come out to take our order. And to repeat, there weren't many diners and the wait staff didn't seem to have much to do inside.

We decided to leave and the minute we left the table, the waitress came out to clear our table and wipe it down. We were left confused and bemused, She was obviously close by and had been watching us.

It is clear they don't want your money, especially if you don't speak Spanish. We were left with feeling very unwelcome. I can not with any conscience recommend this to anyone.

My night started at a different restaurant, but after not being sat/served for a long time, I decided to leave and come here as it was getting late and was the closest place that had what I was looking for. I got sat immediately and also served immediately as well. Not to mention the food came out extremely fast (faster than my drink). I work in the industry and I know that sometimes that could mean a bad thing, but I thought I’d still give it a shot. Unfortunately, my food was not good at all. Definitely had no flavour or actual taste (I ordered the truffle rigatoni). I was eager to try other food items as I’m sure I would enjoy them, but the kitchen was closed by that time. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. It's very vast and the furniture are delightful. The manager was super kind and cater to our needs.

Buffet wise there was a lot of quantity: unlimited fruit, mimosas, coffee, pastries, cheese and charcuterie. If you like quantity or can drink unlimited mimosa this is your place.

I was not fully satisfied with the quality of the pastry (croissant etc.) it might be because of my demanding french side and in the savoury section there were almost zero pescetarian or vegetarian option (no nice vegetables dishes , no fish etc.). I ended up repeating a lot of the same thing as it was a fixed price of 30€.
