I booked this for a me and my brother, we went on a Wednesday at around 6:30pm - 2 very heavy meat eaters. Safe to say, we were in good hands. We were seated downstairs which was nice and cool temperature wise. The table for 2 was a little small, but this didn’t serve to be as much of an issue as I thought. I feel if you were ordering multiple plates you would have a bigger issue. Initially I was concerned about the multiple reports of flies and although there was 1 small one that occurred once or twice, it’s nowhere near as bad as I thought and frankly if I hadn’t seen the other reviews I would of never even thought to mention it. Service was a little slow but our waitress kept checking on us and was overall a very positive person, definitely made the mood better. Food was grand. We got the pit boss platter and it almost beat both of us out. I got the sides of fries and bbq beans but didn’t even touch the beans, I was too full. The quality of the meat is decent. You want to be on the slightly quicker side as taking breaks let’s the meat cool fairly quickly and it’s the type you prefer hot. Food wasn’t cold by any means. Overall in short it’s a good spot with good food and good people. Prices are pretty fair for the location and I’d happily drop off again to eat there.

I’ve been here a couple of times for dinner and it’s been a hit and miss just like the service. Depending on what you get will decide whether or not you have a good meal for dinner. Service is also a hit and miss because some workers are attentive and some you have to stand up and flag down. You may have to wait a while if you come around dinner time so be prepared to wait at the bar a bit. Seating here is also quite cramped so if you’re looking for more privacy I’d recommend requesting a seat upstairs. Food here has been a huge hit and miss for me depending on what I get. For appetizers I’ve gotten the Mac and Cheese Balls, the chips with Chilli Con Queso, and the Chicken Quesadilla. They’ve all been good but my favorite would have to be the Mac and Cheese Balls. For the mail entree my husband and I have gotten the Beef Burger, the Boss Hog Dog, Burnt Ends, and Mac and Cheese. My favorite would have to be the Burnt Ends(which they’re known for) because of the perfect char and sweet BBQ sauce. I’ve also had the BBQ Chicken and BBQ ribs which were both dry and had a weird smell to them. Overall Bodean’s is an ok BBQ restaurant but I feel like you pay more for the decor/ambiance rather than the food. I’d only come back here for the Mac and Cheese and Burnt Ends. There’s so many other BBQ/Smokehouse joints in London so I’ll still be looking for the best BBQ here.

We were there as a party of 4, with 2 of us getting the “pit boss” platter for £32 per person including fries. The pit boss platter appears to be the same as the Bodean’s platter for £19 per person apart from beef brisket and the Texas BBQ sausage. The BBQ sausage was overall ok, but very greasy. The beef brisket was quite frankly an absolute joke - a tiny burnt piece of meat that was definitely not worth it. The fries that we paid extra for were flavourless and soggy. The coleslaw portion was tiny. At least the pulled pork was lovely. While the platter on the photo looks stacked, a large portion of this is two burnt pieces of cheap chicken. The other members of my party were eating the sweet potato vegan chili (which consisted largely of rice, a bit of beans and sweet potato fries on top - not at all what we expected). The service was overall was fine. We had been to the Soho Bodean’s BBQ in 2017 last time and had a really good impression about it. Alas, this will likely be our last visit.

Not a terrible place, the restaurant has a standard American vibe to it, with the booths, music and decor. The staff weren’t that great though. Front of house was nice but our server seemed impatient and a bit grouchy to be honest. Food on the other hand was pretty good, at least with its flavours. Although we ordered the pit boss platter, which was supposed I be a selection of lots of things (and cost £56 for the two of us), but it all looked clumped together with no real differentiation in its plating to be able to figure out what we had. I reckon it’s to disguise that some things were lacking - like the pulled pork and chicken seemed non-existent and the “thick cut slices of brisket” were two slices that weren’t thick at all. Also, sadly it came out only lukewarm, almost like it had been sat out for a while and not freshly cooked (or at least just out the smoker). Shame really but wouldn’t come back again for the price.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. I came across this restaurant and thought "why not try some BBQ." I should've read the reviews first. The place wasn't crowded by any means, but it took at least six minutes after I sat down for a waiter to take my drink order - which wouldn't have been bad had the same waiter not walked pass me ten times before stopping at my table. I ordered a BBQ chicken breast meal, but what I got was a thin piece of frozen chicken - with no sauce - a sad piece of corn on the cob missing most of the kernels, and weak potato salad. I should've left after that, but I ordered desert - apple cobbler - hoping to end the tragic dining experience on a high note. It didn't. The apples weren't cooked and the cobbler was rubbery and not edible. The only part of this meal that was okay was the Cool Passion Punch, though it was nothing more than OJ and Hawaiian punch mix together.

Bodeans is a great budget friendly option for american BBQ. The food is ok, not the best but you're definitely going to be satisfied. Nice selection of drinks too. The venue at Tower Hill is nice, pretty much right outside the Tower of London so it can be packed with tourists on the weekends. It has a few tables on the ground cloor but a large seating area in the basement. The main downside is the service. It's a bit slow and they make mistakes. I've been to this restaurant 4 times and every time they either mixed up some order or there were other issues so it's definitely not a one time thing. They are very courteous and kind but yeah, the service leaves something to be desired. Atmosphere and vibe is ok, lots of TVs that play sports so you can catch football matches, etc.
