UPDATED REVIEW: I appreciate the owners response and it makes total sense. 5 star coffee shop ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This was also one of the first coffee shops to reopen not long after the pandemic temporarily closed everything down. They set the example of safe social distancing and upgraded protection to staff and customer 💚☮️👨🏾🍳👩🏾🌾 ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was teetering on 4 or 5 stars because this place is a solid 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
The Rose Honey Latte is one of the best lattes I’ve ever had, anywhere 🌹 ☕️. The disappointment comes in I guess they only offer one size coffee because though I brought my own mug, it wasn’t filled up all the way. I understand some places leave room, but for me to make a comment about it shows it was noticeably not filled (I’d say probably only like 75% filled, maybe a little more). The biscuit was amazing and fresh, another great thing about this spot is they get fresh baked goods from local places like The Rhu.
It isn’t that big and when I came a group was having a meeting so it was loud and crowded. They have tables and a bar with 2 stools so you can watch your drink being made 🥰. Not a lot of parking but it may have been because of the group there. Prices were excellent, compared to nearby coffee shops I was expecting to pay a few dollars more for what I got! 😃
Decor is gorgeous and the staff is really friendly. It’s in a good location, easy to walk to if downtown since it’s right across the street from Greenman Brewery 💚
Next time I think I’ll ask if I can pay extra to get my mug filled all the way, it would be nice if they offered a “top-off” fee for those who bring their own mugs. If this happens then I can easily say this is a 5 star...
Read moreWalked into Farewell looking to grab a delicious espresso midday. Recognized they sold Affogatos and decided that was the appropriate move for the vibe of the day. After a few moments, the barista approached the register and asked what we would like. "Affogato" I responded, at which point she asked "would you like that for here or to go?," as I conversed with my friend, we determined we'd like to take our drinks to go. She said, "it can only be served for here." Confused, I replied to her, "how is it served?" For context, I've probably consumed 100 of these over the last few years because I really enjoy them. This is where the entire interaction went south...she replied "do you even know what an affogato is?"...umm yes, I've likely consumed more of them than she has. She then proceeded to very rudely and loudly proclaim "then you'd know they're served in a bowl" and continued to break down the recipe. As I maintained my stance that I was simply asking to understand why it couldn't be portable, I still proceeded with the order. I'm leaving this review because I have NEVER casually walked into a coffee shop and been treated like a child, and spoken to like a toddler. I understand everyone has bad days but this reaction was over the top and unacceptable. Such an adorable establishment, tarnished but one bad apple. To the young lady in a sports bra like, pajama shirt, without a bra, working behind the counter. Be careful who you toss your trash onto, energy is transferable and I don't appreciate you attempting to pass your...
Read moreLounging in the early morning sun, sipping my espresso paired with a delightful cup of sparkling water, it occurred to me that a time in my life had passed. A simpler time, a happier time, a time of intellect and yearning, a time when something as simple as a stroop waffle would have been an experience worth savoring. How apt, then, for this cafe to be named Farewell, for this is an establishment that has held onto the sweet, golden taste of those times, just a morsel of it, just enough for you to say goodbye. Goodbye Instagram, goodbye (500) Days of Summer, goodbye dreams of champagne and loose linen shirts in Milan, goodbye to Wes Anderson, Airbnb vacays, Beach House music videos, Pitchfork playlists, road-trips to Tahoe, trying vegan but failing, French films on cheap projectors and plans to make your kombucha. Farewell to all those times, farewell. Drinks were reasonably priced. Perfect for a date or just two friends...
