Some friends were in town for a 5K near Centennial Park, and asked me to join them for dinner at the Ruth's Chris inside their hotel, Embassy Suites. We all ordered off the prix fixe menu...two filet & shrimp and one filet & lobster tail. The food was dropped off by a food runner. None of the steaks were cooked as ordered, but the server never came back to our table (he was very occupied with another table, who appeared to be friends of his) We all swapped steaks so that they were at least close to what we'd ordered. The lobster tail had literally been cooked until it had shriveled into a hard, rubbery, inedible lump and my friend had to flag down a food runner to send it back (again, no sign of the server). She asked for a replacement but it took so long for that to come out (around 30 minutes), that we were all done with our meals and she no longer wanted it, so she sent that back too. One of the sides was very undercooked and another very overcooked, so we didn't really eat those either. We had pre-ordered dessert, one creme brulee (which was an upcharge) and two cheesecake, and added a kid's vanilla ice cream for my friend's daughter. The creme brulee was apparently very good, but the cheesecakes...the only way I can describe these gummy, flavorless hocky pucks is that you would probably find something better at a Quick Trip gas station.
The server never refilled our water glasses or checked on us after taking the order. My friend tracked down another employee and asked to speak to a manager. We've all worked in food service and rarely complain unless a meal is just "that bad". This definitely was. We explained the entire situation and the manager then brought our check stating that he had taken care of some things. He had removed the kid's ice cream and the creme brulee charge, only. My friend didn't even eat the lobster her meal came with because the first one was incinerated and the second one took way too long, but that was left on the bill . Nothing to accommodate the inedible sides and desserts, or the fact that none of our steaks were cooked as ordered. We certainly didn't expect all, or even half of the bill to be comped but to not remove my friend's entree with the ruined lobster, overcooked steak she ate half of and undercooked side she didn't eat? Ridiculous.
I get it...two of my family members are in restaurant management and lots of comps reflects poorly on management and the store's bottom line. It is also difficult to find good food service employees in this area. But, this is a fairly pricey restaurant and paying several hundred dollars for what was a terrible meal, and feeling that no one who works in the restaurant actually cared at all, well, that was my first and last experience with Ruth's Chris. If you want a great, high end steak house experience, maybe try Marcel's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was by far the worst dining experience Iāve ever had. Iāve eaten at many restaurants before, but this one easily takes the cake for all the wrong reasons.
From the very beginning, things felt off. Upon being seated, our waiter asked if this was our first time at the restaurant. Excited, we told him yes and asked what he would recommend. Instead of offering genuine suggestions, he smirked and replied, āOh, so yāall want the spill?ā I was taken aback by his toneāit felt dismissive rather than welcoming. He then rattled off a list of menu items, mentioning only a couple that he personally liked.
When the food arrived, disappointment quickly followed. Several of the dishes were bland and lacked flavor. My ācrab cakeā turned out to be half of one, which was both surprising and disappointing. Then came the main course. My husband ordered his steak medium, but it was so charred and overcooked that it was well done. He chose not to complainājust quietly ate it to avoid making the evening more stressful for me, even though he was clearly dissatisfied. To top it off, our server never even offered us a dessert menu, which felt like yet another missed opportunity to make our experience more enjoyable.
But the absolute worst part happened when we tried to leave. We went to the valet to get our car, and the driver refused to hand over our keys. He insisted that parking was $20, even though the clearly posted sign said $12. His excuse? Because we came through the āwrongā entrance and parked ourselves, we had to pay him $20 via Cash App. Not only did he fail to explain this upon arrival, but he also never gave us a ticket for our car. Instead, he had placed our keys in his own pocket rather than in the booth, leaving us waiting until he returned so we could finally retrieve our vehicle.
I came to this restaurant hoping to celebrate my 18th wedding anniversary with a special dinner. Instead, I left with the feeling that I had made the wrong choice for such an important occasion. From the poor service, to the subpar food, to the valetās unprofessional behavior, this entire experience was beyond...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI never leave bad reviews⦠but dinner was an absolute disappointment: I havenāt been to Ruthās Chris for about 10 years and normally it is the Charlotte location. While in Atlanta for my Husbandās 30th birthday I decided to make reservations because it was in close proximity to everything I had planned. The wait staff seemed to be in a disagreement upon arriving and seemed to have the hostess in a position which had her visibly upset. Serving staff seemed to be having a hang out around the front entry way which felt slightly overwhelming. Upon being seated we switched servers twice. We ordered the seafood tower for 2 which for the price was pretty awful. I didnāt cause a scene because I didnāt want to ruin his birthday. He had never had lobster or oysters before but I had- the lobster was buried in the ice it was plated on and tasted frozen with ice chips embedded in it- the oysters were gritty. For $90 I was extremely disappointed. Our entrees came and while his lamb was slightly overcooked, my stuffed chicken was swimming in butter. The lobster Mac and Cheese was definitely the highlight of the meal. For desert we ordered an apple tart with ice cream, however we would not have ordered that had we known that the waitress was going to also bring out cheesecake before the desert we had ordered for his birthday. We could not finish them. Over all I know he would never say anything because the only fine dining he has experienced is a few places with me over the last year. I on the other hand was very disappointed and I wish that I would have kept my reservations at Kevin Rathbon and chanced traffic and being late to our 3rd destination. I did forget my card and came back to retrieve it after being called however it took almost 25 minutes awkwardly standing up front (now changed in not very appropriate attire for our next event) waiting to be given my credit card back. Over all I wouldnāt be able to recommend this establishment and was pretty disappointed as it did not reach the expectations of the one I had visited in Charlotte with a $350 price...
