Charter Steakhouse — Restaurant in Beaver Creek

The French onion soup tasted like a cross between chili and . . . broth? It was terrible, and should have come with a warning that “This is not your typical French onion soup.” We ordered the ribeye and lamb; both medium. They came out rare; some parts were simply uncooked. They were both smothered in sauces, usually an indication that the meat flavor itself can’t stand on its own. The amount of fat in both entrees was shocking. The steaks and lamb we make at home are vastly superior in cut, flavor and enjoyment, and at a fraction of the cost. This steakhouse is the definition of a steakhouse. It is quiet and has a lovely atmosphere. The Bison New York Strip, the garlic mashed potatoes, and the asparagus were all really well done. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was good as well. The only reason I dock a star from here is I was expecting a little more from the lemon tart. We were so excited to splurge on a proper steak dinner with the family. Unfortunately, their steaks were just not good. One dish came out completely raw and one came out over cooked. We asked for medium on both. They knew it was raw because it came out pre-sliced. I just don't know how that happens at a place with steak in the restaurant name! Anyway, atmosphere was lovely and the staff were nice.

I hate to be a hater, but my vote would be to save your money for a different steakhouse. There are several...
