Absolutely one of the worst bar experiences I have ever witnessed. Apparently a waitress had warned someone three times to stop sitting on the railing (fair enough). Mean while my buddy, not knowing about the waitress's warnings, sat on the railing and accidentally hit someone's head. The waitress then rushed over, screams at him because she warned him three times (not the same person) and kicks him out of the bar (fair). We are all upset because we had just gotten there to celebrate a friend's birthday and my friend who had been kicked out came all the way from Connecticut to be there. We felt like this was a misunderstanding and could be explained to the manager. My friend very calmly tried to explain the situation to the bouncers and manager but they were absolutely not even considering that they had made a mistake. After about 5 minutes of rationale conversation 4 bouncers very aggressively rush in to force my friend to leave even though he was being harmless and actually put his hands in the air to show this. The four bouncers preceded to shove him, get in his face and call him a p*y bch for not leaving (even though he was standing in the public walk way. They then threw him down to the ground and dared him to get up and talk again. He got very nasty cuts on his thigh, elbows and knees. Me and my friend went over to tell the manager how terrible that situation was handled and HE DENIED THAT MY FRIEND WAS EVEN THROW BY THE BOUNCERS even though he was right there when it happened. Also this was even after we showed him the cuts. He absolutely had non of it and dared us to call the police if we had a problem (pointing out that he is sober and we are drunk and that our story would never be taken seriously). The bouncers and manager should be ashamed of themselves. That's no way to treat anyone. We will...
Read moreThere are already several reviews from our party last night, but the experience was so bad that I had to chime in too. We had a large party in town for a wedding shower. About 15 of us went to Tias and asked if they could accommodate us on the patio. The servers (who were wonderful, unlike the management) helped us move a bunch of tables together to make it work. Once seated, we waited a bit for our drink orders to be taken, then once that was underway about half the party ordered food. Soon after, a woman identifying herself as the Manager On Duty came over and gruffly told us we were not ordering enough to take over so much prime real estate on a Saturday evening. I explained - as did the mother of the bride - that we were just getting started, already had around $300 in drink orders in, and were ordering the first of what would be more food and drink. This VERY rude manager said we needed to break up the party or order a lot more right away, then said "I'll give you a few minutes to decide, but for now I canceled all your food orders." Say WHAT?
The wonderful young ladies serving our party were mortified by their boss' behavior, said they were embarrassed and kept apologizing. I assured them it wasn't their fault, paid the drink bill and gave them a substantial tip. Our party walked out, and I went to the manager and told here she handled this situation terribly, ruined our evening, and most certainly gave up on a bunch of money (knowing how much our party would have ordered given the chance). She said "the computer said you ordered your drinks an hour ago and nothing since." I explained that was a factor of the time it took for the wait staff to get around to us and for the first round of drinks to come out. She remained insistent and rude. A real "Business Prevention...
Read moreMy fiancé and I got married at the Long Wharf Marriott and, for convenience, chose to host our welcome drinks at Tia’s. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a major mistake. From set-up to closing, the manager and staff were extremely rude and unprofessional, which cast a shadow on an otherwise joyful evening.
We had rented the main patio, and a few of our guests naturally wandered to the adjacent side patio. Instead of handling this with grace or flexibility, the manager became visibly upset and told us we’d need to pay an additional fee to use that space. Without consulting or asking for approval, they charged my card several hundred dollars without notice or consent. This was especially disappointing considering that the vast majority of guests at the venue were part of our welcome party, generating significant business for Tia’s that night.
To make matters worse, at the end of the event, we had some welcome gift bags left on a table. Before we had the chance to collect them, the manager swept them off a high-top table into a cardboard box on the ground—not gently placed, but literally swept off, which caused the boxes to bend, open, and spill out the carefully packed contents.
This level of disregard and unprofessionalism, especially during such a special time in our lives, was deeply upsetting. We had hoped Tia’s would help kick off our wedding weekend with hospitality and care, but instead, we were met with hostility and mishandling from the very people who were supposed to support our event.
I would not recommend Tia’s for private events and am extremely disappointed in how both myself and my family...
