This will be a mixed review. The bus was difficult to find to board. While they stop at every Trolley Stop on the route, their busses are far outnumbered by their competitors so the wait for their busses can be long. I recommend going to Stop 1 on Atlantic Ave. to initially board the bus. Once we walked to/from several stops, we finally made our way to Stop 1 and found a bus to board. This is where the review will get good! We were lucky to board a bus with an actual person that narrated the tour. Sam I Am and Stanley Cup were our guide and driver. Sam was phenomenal! He was very engaging and knowledgeable. I can't give them enough praise for making our tour enjoyable and an excellent learning experience. We bought the Hop on Hop off ticket. Once we did the entire route with Sam, we got off the bus at Boston Common to explore. When we re-boarded the 2nd bus, there was not a tour guide and the tour consisted of a pre-recorded narration which was much less engaging and was far from the complete tour we received with Sam. If I had boarded this bus 1st, I would have been extremely disappointed! I learned later in the tour this company was fairly new, which is why they had limited busses and limited tour guides to fill the busses. If you get lucky enough to get Sam as your guide, you will love your experience. I would specifically ask for him. It's...
Read moreWe started the day great with a tour guide, Chris. He was awesome! The only thing is that the other buses in rotation only had a recording playing, which is ok, but not as fun. The double-decker bus only runs a small route, but if you take advantage of the bigger route, you have to take a smaller closed in charter bus. Some of the drivers were nice and friendly , and some didn't care and didn't know how to answer basic questions such as final pick-up times. Some of the busses also smelled heavily of cigarettes. Lastly, my husband and I were left stranded with another couple at the end of the day, having the company claim they had the last bus come by however had been sitting at the pick up area for over 45 minutes. It's the same pick-up area as the trolley company, and we saw at least 3-4 trolleys come with no sign of the small charter bus. It was a pretty frustrating end to a very busy day. Overall, as much as we loved Chris, we wished we did the trolley tour instead. They seemed to be more reliable and had more trolleys on the go, which means less waiting at a stop when doing the hop on, hop...
Read moreIt kinda felt like it was a bait and switch and we paid 6 dollars more per person. Their website has one price listed (44.99), but in person you pay more (50.99). I asked the guy about it and he said it was listed on their website that you would pay more in person. Pulled up their site, asked him to show that to me where it said youâd pay more in person and he couldnât show me where that policy was. So check your ticket price.
The tour itself was okay. Sam and Stanley were good.
If you go on the Old Town Trolley instead, you can see more sites for the same price.
ETA Since the owner responded : the online price still does not come out to the same as the in person price. With all the fees, online works out to 49.24 per person. In person with all the fees works out to 55.06. Two employees that were selling tickets told us the same thing, âyou pay more in person than you do online.â And showed us the price difference on their scanner/screen vs what I was seeing online. Tried to give me some bs about when you book on third party websites. I again explained to them I was on their website, not a...
