Amazing small batch ice cream with delicious creative flavors using locally sourced and "in season" products. HOWEVER, after eating there for several consecutive years and never having a bad experience, tonight was an exception. At approximately 6:45, after dinner at Bird and Cow, we stopped in for some of our favorites. I picked up two pints from the freezer, quickly placed our order(we knew what we were having), and patiently waited to pay and depart. An individual walked in behind my family, went to the cashier adjacent to ours, and must have "misplaced" his order or made it unclear to the young man working the register. Unfortunately, when his ice cream selection was presented to him, he complained that it wasn't what he wanted. The young man(cashier) placed it back into the hands of the young man who made it and despite telling them all that we'd take it and pay for it, THEY(ultimately just kids...who were a bit miffed) THREW IT IN THE TRASH!! The ice cream was never touched by the customer(who didn't want it because it had pecans on it) and was perfectly good for consumption! The fact that the disgruntled employees completely disregarded not just one, but two customers who said they'd take it, was imo thoughtless and WASTEFUL!! The kid could've put it in the freezer to eat for later or offer to his girlfriend or mom or whatever, but deliberately throwing it in the trash in front of a room full of customers, who had loudly and clearly offered to take it, buy it, pay for it, etc...was absurd,...again, imo. Sorry, Higgles, you're the best homemade ice cream in Breck, but perhaps coach your employees(kids) to listen to their customers,...not just the ones that are displeased with their order, but the others in the...
Read moreIt's insane to wait in a line for this ice cream. It isn't bad ice cream at all, but you'd be better served to get a pint at the grocery store for cheaper and less aggrevation. There's a line because there's really no other options in town.
The brownie sundae is terrible. It's a stale rock of a brownie with a sample size of ice cream on top.
No toppings.
Please don't assume I "took off for the holiday weekend," that really has nothing to do with anything.
Fact is, you still charge people a large amount for your product, skeleton crew or not. And, when you're paying an insane amount for a product, it isn't a great look to make excuses about it when it was bad and was a ripoff.
Moreover, how would anyone ask for a refund or come back and tell you how terrible your sundae was when there's a line out the door and all? Everyone gets their ice cream and leaves. What would your suggestion be? Should a customer walk back and wait in line again to tell you the $26 of ice cream and a hockey puck brownie wasn't good? That doesn't even make sense.
Quite a few reviews have mentioned the brownies being hard as rocks and clearly you continue to sell them, business as usual.
If you'd have just said "sorry we didn't get it right, please give us another shot" I probably would have stopped back again, but your snarky comment about "taking off for the weekend," coupled with making excuses for a bad experience and essentially putting the onus on me, as a customer, to rectify the issue around you selling a subpar product ensures that I'll...
Read moreMy Honey had the Salty Malty Oreo, I had the Malty Vanilla Oreo. My Honey had no complaints and I tasted hers and it was very good. My experience was much different. The ice cream had no taste and it actually seemed like the cream (or something) had gone bad/spoiled (my Honey agreed). I returned it and the staff matter of fact-ly did not agree and told me that's the way it's supposed to taste. Their stance was followed by silence. Somewhat surprised by this position and as I was enjoying Breckenridge, I was not in the mood to cause a scene and put a negative on the day. I simply placed the horrid cup on the counter and walked away. On the way home, I had to stop in Fairplay for some Pepto Bismal that allowed me to safely make it home... LOL. One lesson learned... tip only AFTER you have tasted the ice cream. Although I must admit, I have never been to any ice cream shop and not liked what I ordered... ever. First time for...
