We have been regular customers for several years. We have been anxiously awaiting the reopening after renovations. We ordered to go and placed our order over the phone. We were told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. The place looks very nice and welcoming. There was a person waiting with 5 pizza boxes and it was obvious that he was trying to get his to go order rectified. After waiting a few minutes, someone offered to help me. When I stated that I was here to pick up an order to go, it was obvious that my order never made it to the kitchen. It was still by the phone. the lady brought it to the kitchen and told me it would be another 20 minutes. I asked to pay and told them I would be back. 1/2 hour later, I walked back in to pick up the order. Nobody knew where it was and it took a while longer for it to come out. They apologized profusely. It looks like there are lots of employees in the kitchen but things are not streamlined yet. Upon picking up the pizza, I noticed that the box was very light. Our order was for a 14 inch pizza on a traditional crust. the box contained a very thin small pizza (less than 14 inch) with very light ingredients on it. The pizza looked like a white flat bread with some tomato sauce and cheese on it. For a family of 2 adults + 2 kids, the pizza was definitely not enough. I asked the staff to verify this order. They said that it was indeed correct and that a thin crust would have been even thinner. We live 5 minutes away from Windy City but the pizza was cold by the time we arrived home, so we are not sure if we received it as soon as it came from the oven, or whether it sat in the kitchen for a while. So, our first experience since the remodeling was not a great success. We will wait a few weeks and give them a try again. We really like the pizzas prior to the remodeling, so we hope that they will be able to provide better quality pizzas in the future. We also wish that they would offer wings on their new menu.
Update: 01/09/2008: Since we are locals, we gave them another chance. We ordered the very same pizza (traditional, 14 inch, pepperoni) as the first time. It was ready in 1/2 hour this time. Even though the place was completely dead, (nobody was eating in), this was a huge improvement. However, the pizza was the same, smaller than listed, incredibly thin,.....and price was now different. I compared both receipts and we were now charged $19.00 for a 14inch with just pepperoni on it.
We called and they apologized, letting us know that they are working on fixing all the problems. I asked what the difference would be with between a traditional and a thin crust pizza and the person simply said "not much, but we apologize in advance as we are still working on...
Read moreI’m told that they do not deal with change. As a result they just round up to their profit. I think that is ignorant. I’m appalled that it is too much for them to deal with having change. The waiter told us that it is done this way all over Breckenridge. That is a lie since we live here in Breckenridge. I the staff feel it is ok to lie and keep some of our money then I hope they go out of business
You ask what do I want us to do. It’s simple, give people their change!
This is an update: I was originally told by the waiter that a lot of places in Breckenridge round the change up and down. Well I have lived in Breckenridge for many years and I have never experienced this at any other establishment. I think the waiter assumed that I was a tourist and was deceiving me. Another thing, the idea of rounding up and down does not come out even. If I was a tourist and I visit the restaurant and my bill is rounded up, how does it later come out even? Maybe the next customer benefits, but I didn’t. I didn’t like the false answer about “ lots of places in Brek does this” - false and the rounding may be evened out for the restaurant owner but not for each and every customer.
It has been another year and not one other establishment in Breckenridge has tried to pull the...
Read moreThiis was an unfortunate waste of money and a deeply disappointing experience. Let’s begin with the overpriced pesto pasta. At $18, I expected something fresher, yet it was made with canned mushrooms, frozen chicken, and canned artichokes (the only ingredient I could possibly overlook). The entire dish tasted overwhelmingly of oil, with nothing fresh or appetizing about it. After two bites, I had no choice but to throw it away.
The service didn’t make things any better. Our waiter was either rude or noticeably impaired, making the experience even more uncomfortable. Otherwise, I would have addressed these issues directly. We also ordered wings as an appetizer, which were limp, flavorless, and seemed as though they had been boiled instead of cooked to a proper crisp.
My husband barely managed to finish his meal, and only because he was trying to keep his frustration in check. At least his pasta came with a proper chicken breast that looked somewhat fresh. Mine, on the other hand, was scattered with small, sad cubes of chicken that I didn’t even notice until the waiter pointed at them and rudely flicked one on my plate.
All in all, this was a highly regrettable visit. There’s nothing worse than paying a premium for food that doesn’t even come close...
