The view was gorgeous, and maybe it would have been a far better experience if we were just there for drinks (I had a Caipirinha and my husband had Virgin Islands Ale Summer Ale), but some of the food ended badly.
I ordered the Coconut Lobster Curry on linguini; at $36, it was probably the most expensive item on the menu. It was a little too heavy on the curry, not that it was too spicy, but that they just put WAY too much curry powder into the sauce. The coconut oil was pretty heavy, too; by the end of the meal, I was fishing little pieces of linguine out of a pool of oil and cloudy curry. About two or three hours later, I became nauseated and vomited everything up. Maybe it was the curry, or maybe the curry was covering up the taste of spoiled lobster.
Additionally, my teenaged son ordered the Cheese Burger and finished only half. My husband asked to eat it (we’re the kind of parents who will occasionally eat what our kids leave behind) and said that he didn’t think it tasted like beef. He asked my opinion, so I tried that, and I agreed. There MAY have been some beef in that burger, but based on the texture and flavor, we were certain that some other meat or plant products were added to that burger.
The remaining dishes were fine. We had Fried Calamari for the appetizer, which was very lightly fried and very lightly seasoned. My younger son ordered the Spaghetti in Marinara Sauce and loved it. My husband also enjoyed the Rasta Pasta. We shared the Vanilla Rum Cake and Chocolate Brownie Sundae for dessert. A weird note: our waitress came back and said they were out of brownies, so instead we ordered the Chocolate Fudge Cake with ice cream , but when she brought out the desserts, she said, “I found some brownies” and gave us the Chocolate Brownie Sundae instead of the Chocolate Fudge Cake. That was a little weird, but the desserts were both very good.
As you can see, aside from the weird burger and the, um, lobster curry fiasco, it was very nice. But if the food makes you vomit a couple of hours later, it’s really difficult to get past that. I’m not saying “definitely don’t go here,” but definitely don’t get the lobster or...
Read moreThis is an unfortunate review because the food was pretty good but we got snubbed by the wait staff. Initially when we placed our order the waitress did not know the menu at all and couldnt understand what we were ordering and we had to point to the food on the menu, she then grabbed the menu from my hand and help it closer to her face so she could read it. It took her a couple minutes to copy over the items we pointed to from the menu to her notepad, very strange experience. They rang in our apps order twice and when they tried to bring out the second one they put the plate down then took it away then brought it back which was unprofessional and just kind of awkward. When the bill came, they charged us for the second app which they took off after we mentioned it. We also ordered a margarita and a painkiller and the drinks definitely had barely to no alcohol and the marg didn’t have a salt rim and tasted like juice. I mentioned to the waitress about the margarita and she just blankly stared at me, I then asked if I could get the rim salted somehow and she brought over a salt shaker… i just poured salt on my plate and started putting the salt on the rim using my finger, very weird. We got the jerk chicken skewers which were four tiny chicken pieces but the flavour and the sauce was really good. The jerk pork curry for the main was really good and would definitely eat again. Just a shame the food was good but our experience was poor. Plus there was automatic gratuity added to the bill so we couldnt even adjust...
Read moreDinner with a view! The BEST dinner I had on the island, hands down, even over a non-intentional cold lobster dinner at The Greenhouse, which was just okay. Service was from a very young, sweet girl and a nice female bartender. Only complaint was that I wish my server would have not had me wait so long to get my check but it seems that way everywhere. I ordered a Banana Daiquiri which was good but I especially loved the Cruzan Confusion, that was on point and my favorite of all the drinks I tried on both islands! The Mahi dinner here was SUPERB and I finally felt like I had a meal that satisfied my taste buds. Ironically I was craving cabbage and that was part of the vegetables for the night. The carrots could have been cooked a little longer but no complaints. This meal exceeded any expectations and at that point I didn’t think I would find anything good to eat on the island and be left disappointed again. Considering all the meals that had been consumed within the week from SST & STJ, none were this great and worthy of any mention. Although I did enjoy the Sharks Bites on STJ, it wasn’t a meal. This as a meal was THEE BEST, do NOT hesitate going here. I wish I would have known sooner how good this place was cuz I probably would have ate most of my meals here and left happy each time. I wish I could order everything and have it delivered to me in DC. Thank you for an amazing meal. Literally, it was my last meal and the...
