This review is based on the food that is not the major focus of this restaurant (Peruvian Seafood) but it is important to address nonetheless (I don't like seafood. Sorry). Summarized review : decent with extremely small portions, especially for that price. I personally wouldn't recommend it.
My family and I ordered the Ceviche de pescado, leche de tigre, jalea, lomo saltado (meat) , churrasco a la parilla, arroz chaufa (me), and Salchipapas. For dessert, we got the alfajor, chocolate mousse cake, and 3 leches cake.
I can't personally say much about the seafood that my parents ordered but they said it was fairly good but certainly not enough to wow them or even make them compliment the food often. The steak lomo saltado which my older brother ordered was really good according to him. My other sibling ordered the churrasco and it was phenomenal. I actually tried this dish and I absolutely loved it. It was super juicy, on point with the salt, and properly cooked. This is the second if not best churrasco I have tried before. I'd highly recommend it. It was the best dish we ordered. And finally, to my more detailed description of the Arroz chaufa. Honestly, it was below decent. It was fairly low on salt, the amount of soy sauce used was more overwhelming that any other flavor (not supposed to be like this), very few pieces of chicken, and what ruined it most of all was the food portions. Man oh man was that size petite. I haven't said it yet but everything we ordered was super small like you'd find in one of those fancy restaurants, which this is far from. That is really the biggest issue with this place: the food portions. As for the desserts, they were super small and...
Read moreHonestly, I was totally disappointed. As a Peruvian, this restaurant disgrace to the peruvian cuisine.
I don’t know if the chef is new or maybe he doesn’t have enough experience with peruvian cuisine, but the food (seco de res, churrasco, and sopa de verduras) was extremely salty and had too much garlic. Good thing is that I didn’t order a ceviche, because if that also was horrible then I would have been extremely mad (I hugely criticized ceviche). By the way, there is only type of soup which isn’t even a classic peruvian soup. However the presentation of the food was actually surprising. The problem is just the taste. It’s really bad.
There is a lack of coordination between the staff, because we had another waitress who came to take our order right after our first waitress came to take our orders. However, our first waitress was very nice and I saw that tried her best to serve us.
Now for the atmosphere, for some weird reason, the restaurant had taekwondo belts hanging on the wall. It just gave some “show-off” vibes from the owner. There were a lot of pictures on the wall, but didn’t really bother because it helped the restaurant’s “fisherman” atmosphere. It’s just the belts that were weird. Like, why are there taekwondo belts in a peruvian restaurant?
Hopefully, the owners can take this criticism seriously so he can improve the restaurant. I truly wish this restaurant becomes better since it’s a representation of the peruvian culture (which is also mine). Actually, peruvian food is amazing, but this restaurant is very...
Read moreI had high hopes that this place would be good as I like Peruvian food, but it was far from that. Strike one - First course was a simple empanada. When presented it looked freshly fried but, upon cutting into it, found the chicken inside was not fully cooked and actually cold. Sent it back and a brand new one was provided but cut into that and found it was the exact same. The empanada was so frozen and improperly cooked again. Waitress took it back and brought out the same one this time (half cut) but now it was warm and soggy from them microwaving it. We politely declined as it is not worth eating something undercooked and microwaved. The other app was ceviche de pescado and this was actually OK. Nothing to rave about but also wouldn't come back for this dish alone. Note that I asked to start w this dish but it was given to me at the end on my meal - so much for an appetizer as it was then dessert Strike 2 - I received my main course, pan seared salmon. It looked nothing like the picture and instead was 2 flat thin pieces smothered in sauce = poor quality fish masked by very salty sauce. To add to that, by the time I finished my main couse Strike 3 - after all this I finished meal, but the person I was with hadn't even received their only main course order of chicken
I would not recommend and...
