Awi Sushi (Express) (Downtown) — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

AWI Sushi Express is easily my favorite sushi spot in Colorado Springs, and the location on 9 South Tejon Street is the one I always go for. There are two locations in town, but this one is closest to me and has never let me down — especially when I want something fresh, fast, and flavorful. Even when I order through DoorDash, the quality is always on point.

Most recently, I ordered the sashimi salad and a California roll, and everything arrived beautifully packaged and incredibly fresh. The sashimi salad blew me away — it came with generous, high-quality cuts of fish on a bed of crisp greens with a light, perfectly balanced dressing. The fish tasted clean and buttery, and the portion was filling without being heavy. It’s one of my favorite things to order when I want something refreshing but satisfying.

The California roll was also excellent. It may be a classic, but you can tell when it’s done with care — the rice had the right texture, the crab was flavorful, and the avocado was fresh and creamy. Nothing felt rushed or pre-made, which I appreciate, especially for takeout sushi.

What really sets this location apart for me is the consistency. Whether I’m grabbing lunch in person or having dinner delivered, I know exactly what to expect: great flavor, solid portions, and a quick turnaround. It’s clear the team here takes pride in their food and puts care into every order, no matter how it’s being served.

We love sushi!! We actually make our own sushi because many sushi spots have declined in flavor, in creativity, in portion, in taste, and freshness. We came here on a whim. We walked in and they were friendly, fast service but when we saw the sushi it looked BOMB!!! Then the first bite from the last was the BEST sushi we tasted in the Springs!!! We ordered 6 different roles and all had different textures, flavors, and all had the perfect amount of rice versus fish and sushi fillings. Truly truly the BEST!!!! Service is quick, and the staff are friendly. They remember me by name, as well as my preferences. I have health issues which prevent me from being able to eat anything fried or spicy. Awi has an extensive menu, so they have a lot of options that are friendly for my dietary restrictions. I love sushi, but usually when I go out, there are only a couple of rolls at most other places to choose between due to my health issues. I don't think Awi has any deep-fried rolls at all on their menu. Their sushi has some nice affordable options, too. They also have tasty canned boba teas, with flavors like Brown Sugar and Banana.
