My bf and I are in town visiting my best friend and her fiancé for her birthday. We knew we wanted to go somewhere for her bday dinner and wanted seafood. We googled “best seafood restaurants Colorado springs” this was the first one that popped up, we looked at the menu and were like YES! So we made a reso super easily on open table which was awesome that they were open for dine in during COVID, and requested that they decant a nice bold spicy red bottle of wine and have it waiting for us. We did not expect to get a call from the manager asking which red or even listening to our request. The manager was so kind and helped us pick the a bottle from Barbera, Italy (SO GOOD). When we got there they had it waiting for us, and we’re so kind and friendly! Our server, Robin (I think was her name) was the bubbliest, sweetest and just all around awesome, I felt like she was a part of our celebration, she was so fun to chat with. She also gave us all the best recommendations and we ordered everything she said! So we started with Chardonnay garlic mussels, crab cake, and chargrilled oysters...OMG everything was so delicious and melted in our mouths. The broth from the mussels we kept dipping bread into. The next dish we all shared was the Mexican shrimp and we took the broth from the mussels and put it the shrimp dish, um wow must try! My bf and my friend’s fiancé both got the Hawaiian tuna (pictures) , I got the Salmon (pictured) and my friend got the Halibut. We tried a little of each other’s and it was just phenomenal, like everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection! The Tuna was the table’s favorite but everything honestly is amazing here. We ended with some flourless chocolate cake and salted caramel nondairy ice cream, best way to end a perfect dinner, everything went so well together. You must come here, you will not be disappointed! Thank you guys so much! And thank you Robin for giving us the best experience!

Absolutely outstanding experience! I took my wife here for her 50th birthday yesterday. I reserved online via OpenTable the day prior and let them know it was her 50th birthday in the notes. When we arrived, we were met by Carter, who took us to the table - the restaurant already had it set up with a flight of oysters and a Happy Birthday greeting on the table (and the oyster flight was complimentary)! We immediately felt so well taken care of. That did not change throughout our meal. Carter attended to us so conscientiously; he was genuinely friendly, never let our glasses get emptied, and was extremely knowledgeable about all the offerings. A manager also came by multiple times to check on us as well. The service was, quite frankly, as good as Michelin-star restaurants I have visited (no joke)! The ambience was also great; see attached pics. We had several flights of oysters, both raw (East and West Coast) and cooked (miso and BBQ, just to try them). My wife had a delicious mimosa along with the Nicoise tuna salad, with the lobster deviled eggs as an appetizer. I had the hush puppies as an appetizer, and the seafood chowder as my entree. The presentation was gorgeous on all of the above. The deviled eggs were some of the best I ever tasted, and the seafood chowder was meticulously arranged, with each of the shelled mussels having an equal amount vegetables seemingly placed within them by the chef. The chowder was mostly different types of seafood and vegetables; very little broth (an excellent value). All-in-all, everything was absolutely delicious. Carter even took our picture before we left, and was meticulous about the location and framing of it. :-) Definitely, definitely recommend this outstanding restaurant - your expectations will be exceeded!

Let me start by saying I was soooo excited to try this place, so maybe it's my fault for coming in with high expectations. Overall, it was OK. That being said, for $200 for 2 people, I would expect exceptional. We had a reservation for 2 at 6:30 on a Tuesday night. We arrived at 6:30 and we're seated at table that was pinned in a corner and much too small. It was also uncomfortably close to the table next to it so it was impossible to have a conversation without hearing, or being heard by the next table over. We asked to be seated at an open 4 top and were told no. Our waitress was nice enough, but did not know the menu. I'll assume that's because it's a new place, but if you don't know the answer to something, ask someone who does. Don't just make up an answer. I asked what a conserva was, since I had never heard of it. I was told, it's like a sauce but chunky, like a ragu. Not so much, what it was could more accurately be described as is a cold sliced mushroom relish. Not unpleasant, but not what I was expecting. Speaking of cold, the clam chowder, while tasty, was cold when it reached our table. As for the prices, I don't know what they think they're serving, but farm raised, locally sourced fish shouldn't be $30 a plate, nor should a half dozen Kumamoto oysters. I've had those suckers in upscale Los Angeles and New York eateries, and I have never seen them priced so high. The highlight of the night, unfortunately, was the paper table covering and crayons that they give you. We did some serious doodling. All in all, I was disappointed. Not so much because anything was terrible, but because nothing was great and did not justify the price. We won't be back.

I will NOT be coming back. I took my mom here for Mother's Day yesterday and was extremely embarrassed to have done so by the end of the night. The service was a D+ at best.

I will give y'all the highlights: we were never brought or asked if we wanted water although all other tables had some. We ordered bread with our appetizers, AS SUGGESTED BY THE MENU, and received it almost 45 minutes later. My mom and I went ahead and finished our apps and waited for almost ten minutes for our table to be cleared. The server didn't know the menu very well, I was asked to point out the food I wanted...I had to ask for bread three times and when we finally got it after our entree's arrived our server said to us "Here. You got the last of the bread." Martini's were ordered initially and once finished we expected to be asked for another drink, we waited almost 20 minutes, put our drinks on the edge of the table, our server passed by a few times and didn't even notice...we had to flag down the bartender because our server was so inattentive. I ordered an entree with broth in it, implying that a spoon would be required to enjoy it...I had to ask to have a spoon brought to me. On that same note, the host asked us how our food was before our server did, in fact he never asked us how it was. The host also cleared our table because our server was so slow. Maybe he was too busy dealing with his poor attitude.

The individual who I think was the manager, seemed so aloof. She spent most of her time standing around instead of engaging with customers. Had the manager done their job, the night might have been saved. Alas, saving the night was up to my mom and I. We kept joking that this was the server's first day and we tried to salvage what we could from the crappy night by laughing it off. I gave a 20% tip and after walking out I really wish I hadn't cause that was significantly more than the server deserved. $264.82 for one of the worst meal experiences I have ever had in CO Springs.Y'all, I HAVE RECEIVED BETTER SERVICE AT MCDONALD'S.

The food was just ok, I give it a C+. The oysters were excellent but I don't really think that counts because Mama Earth made them.

My mother is a wonderful person and she deserved a great night out. She was so excited to come to Jax. I know all this stuff seems small and not a big deal on it's own, but it added up by the end of the night. When your guest, one of the most important people in the world to you, is dissatisfied with the service received from a place you invited them to you feel like you have failed them. Jax made me fail my mother on Mother's Day. Fantastic...We both agreed that we won't even walk near it anymore for fear that passing it would ruin our...

Unfortunately, my first and only experience at Jax Fish House downtown COS was horrific. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant establishment before.

I came here yesterday to enjoy a nice meal with my friend who had flown in from out of town. Management (specifically Tom) made us feel incredibly unsafe, disrespected, and unwelcome in the establishment. As someone who has worked in the service industry, and customer service industry my entire career …the way we were treated was so entirely inappropriate , it was baffling.

Under the premise that my friend was over-inebriated(she had just flown into town and was still adjusting to the altitude, but was not causing any sort of scene or ruckus) Tom took it upon himself to approach us directly and aggressively. After berating my friend about how much alcohol she had consumed(she had one drink), telling her “ you know how to drink water right?” and sneering at us, he lifted my friends hat so he could “check her eyes”. All of this occurred while he was less than a foot away from her face. I was shocked and appalled that he had touched her person.

I understand that restaurants have protocol to uphold, however, under NO circumstances should you be intimidating and touching your customers. I was in absolute shock at his behavior, which was inappropriate for ANY establishment. He could have politely asked us to leave if her inebriation was a problem, but instead, he aggressively barraged her with questions, was less than a foot from her face, and lifted her hat just to invade her personal space more . In fact, he set our food down on the table personally, so I was confused as to why he didn’t just ask us to leave. He then went on to compare my friend to his daughters , which I found to be utterly bizarre.

I will say that a portion of our bill was comped, after communicating with said manager how we felt disrespected and unsafe. The closest we got to an apology was several “I’m sorry you feel that way” responses.

While the food, drink, and atmosphere were fine enough ( the papers on the table for drawing were quite cute), our overall experience at Jax colorado springs was frankly… traumatic.

Please keep in mind the poor boundaries of the management here, if you...

Very disappointed. The only reason I am able to give a 2 star rating is because the service was absolutely the best! Our bartender Cindy and all the service staff did an awesome job. We came in after finding out that Oscar's Oyster Bar was closed. By the time we sat down at the Jax Fish bar, I was absolutely starved. However, we ordered lite as the menu wasn't what we were hoping for. We ordered the Chargrilled Oysters (I wish I would've taken a picture). Each shell had approx 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of some sort of mixture...I could not find an oyster, maybe it was minced into the salty sauce? The tops were coated by a TON of Lawry's seasoning salt. I personally am a salt freak, but it was almost unbearable. Had I not been so hungry at the time plus wanting to have something in my stomach before I started to drink my cocktail, I would've refused to eat them. I've looked at pictures of the Charbroiled oysters from other reviews, and mine did not even come close to the fullness of those shells. I really think they might have forgotten to add the oysters to the shells before they ladled the overly salty sauce onto them. My friend's Lobster Roll was VERY small but the taste was acceptable. But nothing to write home about for sure. It was a 1/4 of the size that we get from the Lobstah Trap(which uses all the meat of a 1 1/2" lobster) for almost the same price. The only decent thing that passed my lips was the awesome cocktails that Cindy mixed for me. I have called and left 3 separate messages asking for the manager to call me before I gave a review, but it's been 5 days now and I still have not received a return call. I owned a 200 seat restaurant for more than 13 years so I realize that I can be overly picky about the quality of the food and service when I go out to eat, but when a customer tells the bartender that the oysters were absolutely terrible and the manager does not come out to speak to you and then ignores 3 phone messages in the days following...this tells me to warn my friends and family not to waste their time or money at this establishment.

Update. An assistant manager just called me and let me know that a manager will be getting back...
