Terrible. I went here in 2015 & again in 2021 and it’s still terrible. What a waste of almost $80 on 2 on a Friday night. Im SO glad we didn’t order alcohol..but then again, you guys didn’t even have roseé or craft beer on the menu. I’m not sure how you can slice sushi incorrectly (rectangle, like, what) with a sushi knife and present such horrible non-authentic rolls. I make better sushi at home. I also don’t know how you can overcook a fish. It doesn’t take culinary school to know how. Also, no one needs an X-Large $3 soda in their blood stream. A tiny Woman can’t finish that and you’re also wasting product, monetarily if you guys were good at budgeting. But I guess you make up for the waste of product through overpricing bad food. Super Americanized, not Japanese; terrible food to cater to the unbeknownst of what sushi is actually like. Underwhelming experience just like in 2015; I wish the Napalese places were open at the time and I wish there was an HEB- which is a TEXAS grocery store. Grocery store sushi from HEB is way better than the sushi at this place. Isn’t that sad? And shame- I think the main Chef is Japanese or Asian so he should know better. But, also, there are sushi Chefs who are Caucasian who get the job done right so maybe it just has to do with passion. This isn’t an Uchi or Uchiko, and the Chefs aren’t David Chang, but I expect at LEAST the quality to be equivalent to grocery store sushi, which is actually better. Not only that, but the fellow Filipinas working there… dapat alam mo na! We ended up throwing the rest away. We study our butts off to make good money and to burn it all is a slap in the face and to bastardize fish is to say the fish lives weren’t worth a thing and are as worse as the fishermen who kill dolphins in Seaspiracy. Yes, possible customers…the food is that terrible. I recommend eating Colorado-type food because you can’t fail there, but Japanese in Colorado Springs is a no go. Stick with Colorado Springs food. Adams Mountain Cafe is better quality food. Healthy, cooked right and filling. If they’re not open at night, head to Denver for dinner or maybe try some French or Italian place- can’t go wrong there. I really wish we had gone to a nicer place bc it would have been money well-spent to be paired with GOOD wine 👎🏼 This place needs a total revamp on the menu, culinary artistry, the artistic display on the plates (bc there are none), the taste needs balancing, the drink menu needs to be better, soda size needs to decrease because American-size is so not hip, classy or healthy, Coca-Cola is a lame product, there are local sodas like Pikes Peak brand, you should support local in your ingredients the servers need to brighten up and get lots of sleep, and the team needs to be re-inspired with passion- or replaced. Go try James Beard awarded sushi restaurants or well-acclaimed ones and go get inspired. Otherwise, I don’t see that restaurant lasting another five years and the space will probably be bought out. Call Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares. He might be able to help. I took the time to write this. Hope it HELPS. Take constructive criticism with grace and your food will LOOK and TASTE better and it will be money...
Read moreFirst and last time there. Made a reservation for 5pm for a total of 4 people. Arrived at 5pm, there was one other table of 3 people in the entire restaurant. We all ordered 10 minutes after arriving. After ordering our food, more people started filling in the restaurant. Around 5:30 we noticed the people that came in after us were getting their food, while we weren't. 5:45pm we asked our waiter where our food was. He said that the order didn't go through, and he was putting it in again.
We all understand that things like this happen. More time passes, we see that others that came in after us, came and left, while we STILL didn't have our food. Around 6:15pm, we asked for the manager, expressed to her of our situation. She stated that she was aware of what was going on, seemed VERY unconcerned, and laughed it off when we told her we had to be at a show by 7pm.
Our waiter was very kind and tried his hardest to get things right for us. Manger hung around the bar chatting with employees the entire time. She was EXTREMELY condescending, rude, and unprofessional. She stated that she, "wasn't going to discount anything." We never asked for a discount, we asked to get our food, so we could get out of there already.
My husband and I eat out every weekend, and this was by far the WORST experience we have had at a restaurant. Managers are supposed to make bad situations better, even if it's just with their body language and words. This manager made the situation worse, and made us feel like she thought we were trying to get a free meal.
We didn't end up getting our food till 6:45pm. The food was "ok" definitely not worth sitting around waiting for 1hr 45 mins for. We tried having dinner before a show with our friends, left very late, and VERY unhappy with the service and food.
Will never return. Would never recommend.
Part 2 After receiving the message on the review from the manager, I decided to email her at her request. Nothing was said in return to uphold her word on here. Guess her, "second chance," she was referring to was to make her and the restaurant sound like they actually cared. Again, will never return, and will highly recommend no...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating here and hoping it would be a great sushi spot I could count on for future dining options. It was disappointing, period. Between trying to get through to the restaurant, the service and the food quality, this was “okay” at best. The majority of their roll choices had shrimp tempura as the main meat. I do love shrimp tempura, but was looking for better variety than what they offered. Any other meat such as tuna or salmon in the rolls was extremely minimal. Way too much rice is used in all the rolls, and too much cream cheese was used in one of the rolls we ordered. I also got salmon nigiri and it was just ok, not the bright, fatty, melting fresh caught salmon. I would not be surprised if it was farm raised. The Fireman roll seemed promising, but the presentation was odd. It comes out on a flaming tray, similar to fajitas. It’s wrapped in foil so you have to carefully open it to find a disappointingly made roll. The fish on top was slimy. The service was bad, even though they weren’t busy. To order, they give you a marker to use on the laminated menus. Marker was dried out. I couldn’t find our server, and I guess he decided to go on break after he took our drink orders. 15 minutes later I saw him and he tried to avoid eye contact, which is really weird considering it was definitely time to order. He seemed completely lost. The cherry on top was when he informed our group that they already added the 20% gratuity, since we had a party of 6. He got lucky there, because his level of service was SUB PAR. If you call the restaurant, the line either doesn’t work or rings busy. Upon checking in for our reservation, there were only two other tables seated and they weren’t busy at all. Yet, the waitstaff seemed to scramble to put together a table for us. Maybe this place was good at one time in the past, but...
