Came here the night before Saint Patrick's day for a drink before going to a club. They don't do reservations, but the wait was not long, and we had 6 people. Our server Maurice was absolutely amazing! He had great recommendations, gave us plenty of time to look at the menu, and kept our waters full.
I ordered the gold dust off his recommendation because I wanted something sweet, and it was great. Not as sweet as I wanted but it seems they don't have many sweet cocktails but I still enjoyed the taste of honey but the gummy on the stick was not good, maybe it had been soaked in vodka because it was bitter and strong.
I also ordered the pretzels appetizer, and it was underwhelming. They were like pretzel breadsticks. They were kind of hard to pull apart and not easy to share due to the size and everyone touching them to rip a piece off. The cheese sauce that came with was good, but the mustard was not, we didn't touch the mustard. We also noticed the ketchup was all natural with no corn syrup, which we used for truffle fries, and I was really happy with the ketchup choice, and the fries were delicious.
A fun thing about this place was the cocktail menu! In the end you could read and write jokes! It's a fun twist to a normal menu. Also, the menu had a table of contents because they had a detailed description of each drink, which was so useful, and im sure saves the waiters time.
The atmosphere was dark, which is expected for a speakeasy, but the music they played was way too loud. We were yelling at each other to talk and would lean in to hear one another. A cocktail bar is meant for people to talk.
Overall, my experience was just okay, I hope they can work on the music volume for the...
Read moreI've been visiting The Archives since they opened. Located in downtown Colorado Springs, underneath Colorado Craft on Tejon St. (sharing a kitchen) – it's a spacious "speakeasy."
Under the direction of bar manager & co-owner Dylan Currier—previously of the clandestine Sakura—they serve up great, quality cocktails. Their staff is fantastic, with differing personalities – it's great whenever Dylan Currier, George, Zachary, Tobias (sp?) or head bartender Shane are behind the stick.
Because of their talent, I will often order the cocktail special – when they have one, which is frequent. With trying something new, I trust their crew of drink makers.
I went last night with a couple friends for my birthday – and had steak & frites (fries) with a couple cocktails: a Black Manhattan and a rye whiskey Old Fashioned. The Black Manhattan is one of my favorite cocktails, and probably #1 for cold weather months – and Zach made it perfectly.
The steak & fries were great – honestly the seasoning on the fries is fantastic. I've had other food items – I've really enjoyed their varieties of mac & cheese.
Anyways, it's about time I've written something about The Archives. Oh, I should add that one time I asked for the bartender to make me a Tiki drink, and asked for a Tiki-style mug, he went out of his way to find an old (what looked vintage) parrot mug, painted in color – when it was served, it seemed like everyone in the venue turned and looked.

Read moreDidn't even know this place existed. It's hidden pretty good in the alleyway. you'd never guess there was a bar behind that door. You go down these big industrial steps and you walk into this bar that you can't believe is down there. This is one of those places that cocktail and craft connoisseurs enjoy. Didn't see any Bud light or Coors light here. Appreciated that. again was picking up a friend so I had no intentions of coming in for cocktails but we ended up staying. Had the mirror pond pale ale. It's the closest thing to a light beer that I saw. Not too happy and just refreshing enough. my friend kept ordering shots so I don't know what we were drinking but every single one of them was excellent. Bartenders are really friendly. Seems to be the spot where a lot of service industry workers go after work. it wasn't aware they have food but saw that they have food from Colorado craft. So it seems like it might have been too late when I went in. But knowing they also have food makes me want to come back again. and I get it's the food from a bar upstairs but I want to eat it downstairs first then try it upstairs. Can covid just go away so I feel safe going...
