My husband and I had wanted to try True Food Kitchen for some time. We finally decided to give it a try. We eat out at least once a week, and have tried almost every restaurant in the northern Columbus area.
We were pleased that the food looked and smelled really appetizing. It's evident that True Food Kitchen puts a lot of thought and effort into how their dishes look. The food was truly beautiful but didn't taste good.
We ordered the bruschetta trio to share, and a second for our daughter. As our entree, my husband ordered a burger, and I ordered the meatloaf. We also ordered the Spice Apple Crumble Cake to share, which was outstanding.
The food looked BEAUTIFUL and the portions were large. The flavor of the meatloaf was good but unfortunately it was very dry. It came with grilled carrots and mushrooms that were absolutely delicious! The meatloaf came with a delicious gravy. They gave us two little containers of gravy which was the perfect amount
My husband really enjoyed the flavor of the burger, and it looked really good, but unfortunately, like the meatloaf, the burger meat was very dry.
There were 3 different bruschettas. The first had avocado, pickled onion, and smoked salmon. It looked so yummy and it was the best of the three. It was really delicious.
The second was a Chioggia beet bruschetta, a vegan bruschetta with almond ricotta, amaranth, arugula, and pomegranate molasses.
The third bruschetta was a beet and marcona almond bruschetta with roasted beet, blue cheese, herb hummus, chili garlic crunch, and lemon almond ricotta.
Our daughter and I are huge fans of bruschetta and we frequently order it to share whenever a restaurant has it. Unfortunately, the bruschetta we ordered was very different with odd flavors that we didn't care for. That said, they looked beautiful!
The Spice Apple Crumble Cake was absolutely delicious! When my husband and I were done, our dog got to lick the bowl clean, which made her very happy.
If you're looking for a place to go for dessert and coffee, my husband and I both agree, we'd definitely recommend going to True Food Kitchen because the cake and vegetarian ice cream alone were worth the trip!
We're glad we tried True...
Read moreI was highly disappointed with the food. We got in for a 1:30pm reservation for 5, and my family got sat within minutes. Our server was great. The atmosphere was nice and clean. But then it just went downhill. I enjoy a good brunch, that’s not something that should easily be messed up. However the food was absolutely terrible. I ordered the classic egg breakfast with scrambled eggs and the bison sausage. It also came with potatoes and sourdough toast. This seemed like a simple meal. However we received our food at 2:24pm, so almost an hour later. My eggs were scrambled but hard and discolored on top like they had been sitting for quite some time. The sausage was rubbery and gross. My potatoes were barely warm and tasted dry and like they had just been warmed up in a microwave. Then my toast was hard as a crouton. Literally I couldn’t even eat the inside that should have been a little soft. It was so bad I asked my waitress if she could just bring me two fried eggs because mine were not good. She didn’t even ask how the food was, she just said ok. She had to of known the food even looked bad. My sister in law got the same thing and hers looked and tasted just as bad. My daughter got the blueberry pancakes and they were just ok. The pancakes tasted burnt also. They could have been good if they tried a little. My sister in law did warn me and say she previously did not have a great experience. But we decided to give it a try since we were hungry. The menu really could be good, I’m just not sure the kitchen staff cared too much about how it looked let alone how it actually tastes. I expect more from a restaurant like this in Easton. Not the quality I would expect at all. I really hope management sees this comment and does something about the food. A huge let down to go out and spend money at a place that doesn’t seem to care...
Read moreAs a meat and potatoes guy, I knew going in that this was not likely to become one of my favorite restaurants. But I was meeting some friends who are vegan and this place was supposed to have some good options for them. Plus I’ve found in the past, if I go in with low expectations, it’s easier to exceed them - I’ve been pleasantly surprised before. But not this time. There was truly nothing on the regular menu that appealed to me. However, this was a weekend, so there was also a brunch menu, and I availed myself of the opportunity to order off of it. I ordered the Two Egg Breakfast, which came with two eggs (duh!), chicken sausage, sweet potato hash and a piece of toast. I don’t like sweet potatoes, so I asked if I could substitute the hash for something else on the menu. I was very intentional about using the word “substitute”; I chose a cup of chicken soup. Also, before placing my food order, I requested a beer. With all that said, here’s how the meal played out. Service was slow, VERY slow - my beer took 15 minutes to arrive. My eggs were average at best, the chicken sausage was terrible and the “organic whole wheat crostini” was simply dry toast. As for the soup, it was ok, nothing remarkable - other than the nearly $5 mark-up to my already $18...
