The ambiance and decor was great. We reserved a table for 6 & had no less than 10 points of contact to confirm our reservation, a bit crazy. The waiter was friendly and attentive but not familiar with the food menu or beer. Each couple ordered a flight of beer & guessing by the different colors of our beers as we compared they were not marked properly. After questioning it the waiter took our beers from the table to ask someone what we got, then brought them back, never seen that before. The beers were ok, not great, IMO. We had some very small & very expensive appetizers. The $30 cheese plate gave us a whopping 5 tiny pieces of bread and no crackers with a small amount of cheese. The other appetizer which was not as the name suggested & the waiter didn't know what is was, turned out to be about 6 pepper pieces breaded & deep fried for $10. The main dishes were good, but a small cup of soup was $8.00 and also not what the waiter had described for the soup of the day. Other items he could not tell us what they were either, just said he never had them. Lastly the worst was the short pours on all our beers. A 12 oz beer for $6.00 and we all maybe got 10 oz. We all just were shocked at the short pours. Overall our dinner for 2 with drinks was over $90.00. For $90.00 I would expect much better food & beer with much larger portions. I would not come back, too many better options around for...

Thanks to the manager Zoey I will not recommend anyone to come here nor will I come back! Honorable shoutout to her for being rude and disrespectful as a manager and then going to her team to laugh and talk about the situation while I’m still at the restaurant.. smh I came to this restaurant for my first time and wanted to try something new! I chose the smash burger which wasn't good at all in my opinion. I didn’t like my burger because of the sauce that was all over it and it was pink inside still. I asked for a new burger explaining that I didn’t like how mines was made. She tried to charge me for a whole new meal on top of the meal I was already going to pay for knowing I only wanted my burger remade. She told me she was charging me because my burger was half eaten when it’s clear in the picture both half’s are still on my plate. When I tried to talk to her about how I don't think I should be paying for just a burger that I didn’t eat she gave me attitude which made me as a first time customer get out of my character and had the audacity to say my own attitude was unnecessary when she gave the attitude first. As a manager Zoey came to me ready to argue and made me feel uncomfortable in this atmosphere. She didn’t show any good hospitality or consideration! I honestly feel like in a way I was discriminated against because If I looked different im pretty sure that problem would’ve not have...

We reserved one of the event rooms for our wedding rehearsal dinner and are beyond happy with our experience! We contacted Michael a few months before our wedding and he was amazing to work with. He was so attentive to our group's food allergies/dietary restrictions and did everything possible to make the evening play out exactly as my wife and I envisioned!

The food was incredible across the board. The appetizers, soups/salads, and meals were all delicious and plentiful. There was a meal for everybody in the group regardless of their food preference or allergies/dietary restrictions. Michael ensured the menu was exactly what we wanted, the room was set up the way we asked, and that all the appetizers were set up as soon as we arrived. All of the service staff was very friendly and timely which made the rehearsal dinner seamless for our guests.

All our guests emphasized how impressed they were with the food, beer, cocktails, and service. Michael, Zoe, and the whole team were so easy to work with and provided us with a perfect rehearsal dinner for our wedding party. I encourage everybody to read about the history of Forbidden Root and give this place a try, you will not be disappointed! My wife and I will 100% return next time we are in Columbus!

Exceptional food, drinks, and service. A huge thank you to Michael and the staff for an...

Got jalapeno bread and salmon sandwich, fellow diner got the ramen mac and cheese add chicken. For drinks I got the surfs up (x2) and a flight. Venue: Handsome decor and very friendly service. Picture burlap, leather, and wood with dried hop bundles. Drinks: Surfs up sour ale is absolutely stunning. Got 2 crowlers to go. Humble crumble is a sour but it primarily tastes like pancake syrup. So it's good, but very rich and I recommend as an after-dinner or standalone. Flight was alright, my favorite within it was the peach whit. Recommend the surfs up if you like decadently fruity sours. Fantastic work. Food: Jalapeno bread was good, I think it could use more jalapeno but I'm a chili head. My meal was alright - i recommend adding some seasoning to the fries and adding some crunch to the sandwich. Salmon was cooked well, I do think a blackened/crispy finish on it would improve ut.. The slaw on the salmon sandwich was good, I simply recommend a higher quantity of it. The mac and cheese was a good flavor (I only tried a bite) and it was certainoy decadent - heard no complaints from the fellow diner. I recommend!

Over hyped and mediocre Selection of food. As much as i loved the entire decor and ambience the menu selections were not adequate for me. We ordered pizza popcorn and chip(chicken and waffle seasoned) with our drinks. I will come to the drinks part too, but the popcorn had to be sent back as they were stale. Chips were nothing out of the world. They do have appetizers/small plates but as i mentioned earlier, there isn’t much variety. The reason of at the least three stars was due to their huge selection of drinks. The drinks department did not disappoint me and i believe they deserve all the praise in terms of trying something new or just plain old cocktails and beers. I loved their own FR branded beers Luminary(which was cherry and lemon based) and my friend ordered a ginger cocktail i have now forgotten the name. Although it was a very chic version of Moscow mule with absolutely no sugary feels. I am probably not going here again, only if i am in that section of easton mall and if my friends probably want to try it out for the first time.
