Barbecue, beach and beer is an enticing feature for any restaurant.
Karma says begin with the positives. Nice location on the Coronado Ferry Landing. 1. All seating is outdoor but there is covered seatng in the main section of the eatery, a few high tables with stool seating on the patio and side seating by the pond. And of course, you can eat anywhere on the boardwalk or beach or grassy area.
2..Happy Hour is everyday including weekends from 3-6 with half to less than half priced appetizers and beers
Authentic full jalapeno poppers stuffed with hickory seasoned cream cheese and wrapped in crisp bacon. These poppers are unbreaded and can range from mild to spicy because these are real deal medium sized jalapeno.
Pork sliders were dry but the sauce and sweet rolls with crunch coleslaw made them tasty.
On the other side of the coin, If you are craving barbecue and know the culture of cueing, flavors, smoke etc., you will not receive it here. I remember eating here years ago and forgot how disappointed and waste of financial resources I spent. Five years later, I am re-enlightened. If you are truly a connoisseur of cue, this place is overpriced and underwhelming. Even the fries are only dipped in oil and left unseasoned with nada. If you can't make fries, everything else is a done da-da.
If you are compelled to be persuaded to eat here, come during happy hour or choose the kids meal to get sampling. It's all the same meat right?
And the brisket chili. There are so many recipes that can be adopted there is no reason for the chili to taste like brisket stirred in tomato paste. Heck, my chili would bring them droves of crowds and I'm willing Lil' Piggy if you want to dance. Ummm, chili powder is actually supposed to be in chili. I took two spoonfuls and the rest was unfortunately wasted.
Excellent barbecue in San Diego if hard to find so I can't even provide a...

Read moreThe atmosphere is awesome because you can see the San Diego skyline, but that is the only plus. The food is mediocre if that. There are definitely other BBQ spots in San Diego to visit. I had the 2 choice meal with ribs, brisket, slices of white bread, beans and coleslaw. My meal was cold, the brisket tasted like it was sitting on a counter for awhile. The ribs were soft but tasted like it was baked and not smoke. My BBQ beans were good because there were shredded pieces of pork in it. The coleslaw didn't taste like anything. it was if they quickly tossed the slaw mixture in the slaw sauce, not as if it was marinating in the slaw sauce. We also ordered fried pickles which I guess if it were your thing you'd enjoy it. service was non-existent. it took awhile for her to ask us for drinks, enough time passed that being first time customers we knew what we wanted to order after reading through the menu several times. after bringing us our meals she didn't come back at all until we called her over to ask for something. She brought the item and didn't come back again until we finally asked for the check. If you are in search of good BBQ in San Diego there are definitely other options. if you are searching for restaurants in the area there are definitely...
