I work in the area. But I only come into the office one day a week. Ever since they started construction on Flora Cantina, I wanted to try it. Knew nothing about the menu, but I knew I wanted to try it. It finally opened and I wasn't able to try it until today. I had heard from my wife and a couple other people that it was pretty good. A little on the pricey side for what it is. But in my opinion when you have good fresh ingredients you're going to pay a little more. So I was fine with that. I walk in and was immediately greeted by the staff. Good start. I peruse the menu and decide what I want. I wasn't starving so I just went with two tacos. The carne asada and "The "Cowboy" sounded good. After about a five minute wait, the person brings me my order. "Here you go, have a great day". Thank you and I went immediately back to my office to eat. I open up the carne asada first. On the surface, it looked great. I took a bite and that was a bit of a different story. The carne asada was way over cooked, dry, & tough. ( Imagine beef flavored bubble gum) No matter how many fresh ingredients you put on it, that just ruined it for me. And there was zero spice. Even a little heat could have helped overlook the dryness of the meat. Then I moved on to the cowboy taco. Took a bite, the brisket was moist and the fresh ingredients made it a very pleasant taco. But still, could have used some sort of spice to pep it up a little. The Cowboy taco and the service might tempt me back for a second visit, but not 100%. I just would stay away from the "carne asada". But that's just me, you could have a different experience. Try it for yourself. Have a great...
Read moreI came here with a friend before a show at Winspear Opera House. We stood in line for over 30 minutes to order, and when we got to the counter, we realized why. The counter staff had to stop between customers and hand-enter online orders from an iPad into the POS system to get a grill slip to print. She was entering 3-5 orders between every face-to-face order, plus making fresh cocktails by hand. I felt so bad for her - she was doing her best but management has clearly bungled this. By the time we actually got food, we had to choke it down and run to not be late to our show, and we arrived at the restaurant 90 minutes before curtain. I had the nachos with picadillo beef and they were really tasty, but I didn't get to really enjoy them. My watermelon cotton candy margarita was really refreshing as well. I recommend coming very early, being patient, and for the love of all things do not order online and slow things down - the people that did didn't get food any faster either. Management - if you're going to keep online ordering, I recommend getting a new automatic system or turning it off in the two hours prior to events on the...
Read moreI was so hopeful to try this place out. I ordered nachos, I figured it would be a perfect lunchtime snack, I got the nachos and added brisket. I was apprehensive when my nachos was made before I finished my payment.
I was still hopeful that it would be at least acceptable.
The presentation was below sup par I looked like the cook just threw everything on top of the chips very sloppily.
I remained optimistic, but I noticed that the Brisket I had her add to my nachos was all dried out discolored and old to the point that I was brittle.
I went back to the cashier to request a refund. They informed me that I would have to wait on the manager to enter a code to initiate the refund.
When the manager arrived I was standing at the register, however the manager didn’t acknowledge me at all or even ask what the problem was or how they could make my experience better.
Bottom line, this is just a business, not a place dedicated to delivering a...
