Hyena's Comedy Nightclub — Restaurant in Dallas

BEWARE of this establishment! We attended the 7PM Joe Torry comedy show on Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 27th and it was a complete fiasco! This was our first time ever visiting this comedy club and it will be our last. We were excited since neither of us had been there before nor had we ever seen Joe Torry perform live. To our disappointment not only did we not get to see Joe Torry but we also DID NOT GET THE REFUND THAT WAS PROMISED!!!!

Joe Torry and the establishment had a conflict over Joe’s arrival time at the venue. The establishment apparently has a policy that comics must arrive by a certain time or they fire them. They fired Joe and he could not perform. How would I know all of this you ask? Because when Joe arrived he came in and took the stage to address his fans to let us know that he was there but not allowed to perform. He and the establishment aired everything out in front of all of the patrons, can you believe that! It was extremely unprofessional, if Joe was late he was wrong but we paid to see him and they would not let him perform. One of the employees then addressed the crowd and promised that everyone would receive refunds however we never did. When we called to inquire as to why our card was not credited the GM gave some made up story that we were suppose to give them our name that night in order to get a refund! What!! No way, that was never communicated. They have the credit cards everyone used to pay for the tickets which is how they knew to let you into the venue so that doesn’t make sense.

They had a packed house to see Joe Torry and they got the benefit of that and we got shafted. The comedian that they called in to replace him was good but we had just seen him a few weeks earlier at the Addison improv. SMH what a scam, we drove from an hour away in Little Elm. We will not be returning...

I told myself I wasn’t going to write a review on here but after several months I’m still fuming over our experience here. My husband and I came here for a date night. At the time I was pregnant, so I couldn’t drink but we both love stand up comedy. When we got there, we waited for about an hour while standing. This sucked since I was pregnant. My husband purchased a cocktail and a bottle of water at the bar while we waited. Finally we went inside the venue and were told that we each had to purchase two items. Since we had already purchased two items at the bar, we were ok with ordering another drink and bottle of water inside. In the middle of the show, our waitress asked us if we wanted anything else and we declined. She insisted that we each had to purchase one more item. We told her we ordered two other items out in the lobby but apparently that does not count towards the two item minimum per person. It has to be purchased inside the venue. We did not want to order food because we had just eaten before the show. They were trying to force us to buy something we didn’t want and were not intending on consuming...what a waste. Other folks at our table said they were planning on buying a third round of drinks and offered to put it towards our minimum. We told the waitress this and she came back with a security guard who told us we had to leave! Once in the lobby, we asked to speak to a manager and they said we could not. Our choices were to leave or they would call the police! Not wishing for conflict, we ended up leaving. Although in retrospect, we should have let them call the police because we did nothing wrong. We have not returned since nor will we ever. A shame since we love stand up...

If I could give zero stars I would. It was a terrible experience from the start. I have been one other time and had a okay experience. I signed up for free tickets so I took a friend out for her birthday. When I called to set up my tickets the guy on the phone was rude when I asked questions regarding the way the tickets worked He acted like I was bothering him by asking questions. RED FLAG My group arrived early as suggested by the man on the phone. No bartender for 30 min. when she finally arrived we ordered a couple of drink due to the fact that my husband and I remembered getting service inside was slim to none. While entering my husband asked if we could have a specific table and the "manager" says "how about.... NO!" To us simple explanation would have sufficed... after this the two drink minimum became a problem. I heard the staff say things about my group that should NEVER be said about a customer. NEVER in all of my years of working with the public have I encountered worse service from an establishment. I did not come across a single pleasant worker in the building! Everyone acted like they didn't want to be there. If you do not enjoy your job find somewhere else to work! I would NEVER suggest this place to ANYONE. Comics please find another place to do your show! And potential paying customers don't waist your time or money in an establishment that would be willing to get into a physical altercation with paying customers. Side note THE FOOD AND DRINKS ARE TERRIBLE! you couldn't pay me...
