We visited the Perry’s at 2100 Olive Street in Dallas, TX on Friday 2/2/24. We were there to celebrate the birthdays of my wife and a close friend. We had reservations for a party of 6 for 7:30pm. We arrived about 10 minutes early but were promptly seated at 7:30 (table #42/1). Our waiter arrived about 5 minutes later and ask for our drink order, my wife and 2 others in our party ordered the mini martini flight. But the waiter said it was not avaible tonight. This seemed odd since full sized martinis were available. So, my wife and friends ordered regular martini’s. My other friend ordered an old fashioned, and I ordered a scotch based mixed drink. When I placed my order, I asked our waiter (Juan) if the drink was sweet because I do not prefer sweet drinks. He assured me it was not sweet. When our drinks arrived my friend’s old fashioned tasted like coffee, and my drink was very sweet. We requested to send our drinks back, to be replaced with a whiskey neat and gin martini. It took about 20 minutes for the waiter to return with our new drink order and remove the drinks we sent back from our table. We then ordered appetizers, my wife and her friends each ordered lobster bisque and another member of our party ordered the scallops.
When the lobster bisque arrived, it tasted like barbeque soup. Easily making it the worst lobster bisque any of the members of our party had ever tasted. My friend that ordered the scallops did not receive his ordered. When our waiter returned about 10 minutes later to check on us, we told him the scallops had not arrived. He claimed he thought they were already brought out and my friend had finished and the plate had been taken away. He apologized and said the kitchen was having issues and he would put in another order.
Our entrees and sides arrived a few minutes later. This sides were delivered without any serving spoons and the lamb chops my wife ordered were very salty. We requested a new order of lamb chops and the waiter offered to get his manger since we were having so many issues with dinner. The manager arrived and we told him about the issues. We brought up the lobster bisque and he admitted the kitchen had made a mistake because he had tasted it himself and asked that they make a new batch. He offered to bring replacements and apologized. We also requested serving spoons for the side orders. My friends’ scallops arrived about 5 minutes after the entrees, and we still had no spoons for the sides. Finally, the manager brought over 1 soup spoon for the sides. We requested another for our other side dish but that did not arrive until we had almost finished our entrees.
We requested the side dishes be removed from our bill because they were now cold because we had no spoons. Another manager came by and said he would remove the sides, bisques, and scallops from the bill and offered to do anything he could to make our dining experience better.
He never returned to our table and after we had finished our entrees the waiter came back with the adjusted bill. We were not even offered desert which is not the norm for restaurant’s the caliber of Perry’s, especially given the fact we were there to celebrate the birthday of two members of our party. To add insult to injury they included a tip amount on our bill because we were a party of 6 or more. The tip was $160, which is way out of line given the level of service we received. This was highly disappointing experience. All members of our party have been to other Perry’s locations multiple times and have always enjoyed our experience. I believe this experience was so poor due to the lack of experience or attention to detail from our waiter and some kitchen issues. I definitely will not be visiting this location again and may never visit another...
Read moreThis was my first time going to Perry's and it blew my mind.(This review is long but I have to tell you exactly why it's worth the price!!!) Once you get through the maze of one way streets, there is a self park garage and valet (only $5, we went on a Friday night). We valeted and they have this website you can request your car after you are done so you don't have to just stand outside, 5 star valet team. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. Windows to see the exterior, and a fire pit with seats outside to wait. When you enter, the host stand is in a quite small section but it's fine, it gives you time to sit outside and talk to who you are with. If you wear heels, and haven't worn them since prom like me, just know this is a split level restaurant and you have to take 2 steep, numerous stairs if your table is at the top, again totally worth it but good to know for us novice heel wearers. The decor is perfect, every detail from the chandelier, to the napkins in the bathroom that feel like terry cloth, to the shades on a timer when the sun sets, 6 stars. Our server Chris had a vibe like if you hadn't seen your high school best friend in 10 years and randomly saw them and caught up, he felt so personal in this intimate setting. He is quirky (totally a compliment), smiled a lot and checked on us frequently. The GM also made his rounds all night and checked on us, we will come back because this place will be immaculate in a few months, 7 star service. The food is the best thing here. We tried a little bit of everything, so I suggest you do the same: my date said the filet mignon (8 oz for $48) was the best steak he has eaten in his life, and he gets steak most times we go out; the fried asparagus has the crunchiest batter and almost half a cup of blue crab on top ($19.50); the chargrilled oyster ($4 each) was my first ever oyster to try and its delicious and cheesey with a side of hotsauce; the lobster mac (large $25) had chucks of lobster in it; the Caesar salad ($12) has two slices of anchovies on top; the pan seared sea bass ($46.50) was juicy, nicely plated and even the corn sauce was delicious; martini flight of the month ($15 for 3 mini glasses) had one strong, sweet and refreshing; they even do flambe desserts at your table (all deserts $11) I had the bananas foster and to top it all of they give you fresh bread at the beginning of the meal, a standing ovation for the food. With everything we got for us 2, the tab was $217 but if you can't tell it's totally worth it, we even ordered in courses so we were there right at 3 hours for the music and view. Book you a reservation before the sun starts to set, valet your car (and tip the valet), sit on the second level by the window, don't rush, just enjoy the venue and food, and save room for dessert. I will...
Read moreI came here with my wife for Valentine’s weekend since we had been given a gift card for Christmas from some family. We usually try to stay away from chain steakhouses but we’re interested to try this one. Be sure to leave extra time for valet upon arrive as it is shared with Yardbird next door and the retail space. We were called quickly for our reservation once checked in and took the elevator up to be seated where another associate greeted us and led us to our table. The restaurant is polished and feels upscale with a great view of downtown. A waiter was over promptly. His service was good but he spoke very quickly and was hard to understand at times. Drinks came out (Godfather returns for me (10/10)and Peachy Plane for my wife (7/10)) we ordered from the menu (which was limited as we expected since the restaurant was very good about communicating in the website). My wife had the Caesar and I did the field greens salad with pear and candied pecans. My wife LOVES Caesar but was disappointed with this one as it lacked flavor 5/10, however, the Field Greens salad was a 9/10. For entrees, my wife had the NY strip (medium) and I had the Prime Ribeye (medium rare). Both meals came with whipped potatoes and a vegetable medley so we ordered an additional side of Mac & cheese. My wife rated her steak 7.5/10 and said it was decently seasoned I felt it had a decent crust as well, however, we feel the same steak could have been had from a more casual upscale restaurant. I rate mine a 5/10. I feel it came out rare instead of medium rare and the fat was not as rendered as I would have liked. In addition seasoning seemed to be lacking altogether. The mac & cheese was penne noodles in more of an Alfredo sauce which was yet another let down. The other sides are not worth mentioning. Our server checked in regularly which was appreciated and got us a second round. I did a repeat but my wife did the a Bourbon Bloom 7/10 again as she felt it was too sweet. Finally came dessert where my wife did a chocolate crunch tower (3/10) and I did the chocolate dipped strawberries. The bill after tip was just under $335. While it was Valentine’s Day, they had a reduced menu which just wasn’t executed well. Service, however, was very attentive, not place your napkin in your lap attentive, but regularly checked in enough to not be a disturbance or leave us looking for someone to refill water. The atmosphere and views of downtown were also very upscale and pleasant. The overall value just wasn’t there for the price tag, leaving us disappointed and unlikely...
