North Dallas AYCE Sushi Ranking: The Undisputed Champion + Surprising

We enjoyed our time here. We came in for a late lunch (past the lunch menu options, unfortunately) and decided to share the handroll trio and the shrimp tempura plate. We tried to clarify with the waiter that we were getting three sushi rolls, and were surprised at the handrolled cones that we got instead. It's not their fault that we didn't know what handrolled sushi was, but we made the decision to order on false pretenses that weren't really explained by the waiter. Regardless, though difficult to share, the rolls were fresh and tasty. The miso and salad were quite good. The tempura and coconut shrimp were both good. The breading on the vegetables was heavy, and I didn't love it, though I think that's just personal preference. The asparagus was good and seasoned well. They gave us little bites of strawberry fish ice cream when they gave us our check, which was nice. We were full and satisfied sharing these two dishes between two people.

I found this restaurant on Google and decided to have lunch here before going to the Dallas Museum of Art. I was immediately greeted and sat upon entering. The inside decor was very upscale and elegant. The lunch menu had plenty of options and great deals. I started with the miso soup, which was very flavorful. The sushi was 2 for $14, and I decided on the spicy salmon and shrimp. The salmon was my favorite of the two. The star of the meal was definitely the bulgogi bento box. The meat was beyond delicious and paired well with the steamed rice, shrimp tempura, and eggrolls. This restaurant was a 10 out of 10, I cant wait to return again.

Please do not give this restaurant any more business. Read my story here:

I walked in by myself at 9:30 knowing they close at 10pm. Def felt all eyes on me (ugh, I get it, it's late) and notice tension. I sat at bar and let her know I'd be quick, ordered a wine a the tuna bowl right away. Bartender was quiet and looked put out but I ignored. A few minutes later another server came by and greeted me, was friendly, told me not to feel rushed and we chatted briefly.

Food comes out very quickly. It was fabulous. The shiso herb on it was amazingly special, I mention it, server and I chat again. Great! I pay my bill but am still finishing my wine. It's 9:50 at this point. Manager (I presume) comes to register behind bar now to close out for night I presume. Then server joins him and now the bartender woman is stamding behind me very close and awkwardly. I turn to her, she stares at me, I go back to my wine with kind of a wth is happening look/thought. Server starts saying to manager "she just won't listen to me, etc...", whining sounding like a 10 yeard old complaining about a younger sibling. He then tells her to step to "the back" and he starts yelling at her, degradingly and extremely unprofessionally, not "in the back" but just out of eye sight but certainly not even trying to be out of ear shot. Yelling at her "I'm your boss..." yada, yada, but nothing productive then repeatedly yelling and I mean yelling "I will fire you, I can fire you...". I was actually concerned for her safety and now mine, as I could not see them and knew we were alone. I quickly finished my wine, grabbed my wallet and was going to leave but the server comes back out and in his friendliest tone addresses me "how are things"? and I asked if the woman he just screamed at was safe and asked where she was? I professionally let him know my thoughts about him and hurried out the door. He tried stammering to me about "well you know employees...".

What in holy heck?!?! How would he have treated her or another employee if I had NOT been there? So awful and I will never step foot in the restaurant again unless I hear back that him and the manager on duty, who heard everything and did NOTHING, are gone for good and the woman is safe and was apologized to. This is not how you lead, treat employees or keep employees. Go work in politics if you want to be a jerk. That behavior is never acceptable and in front of customers at that.

It was a shame though, because my meal was excellent but could have used some veggies in the tuna bowl like cucumber, avocado... They even had real wasabi...
