Dale's Restaurant — Restaurant in Deadwood

The food here was nothing to write home about.  I had a Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese.  My wife had the steak sandwich.  We also ordered a giant pretzel appetizer but didn't receive that until our meals were completely finished. We sent it back.   Getting our meals was a fiasco in itself.  We came in with 4 friends we were riding with that day.  We all ordered about the same time AFTER dragging a waitress over to take our order.  When our food started to arrive we had to locate our own silverware and napkins.  Drink refills were also on us.  Two of our party ordered the exact same meal and got them 45 minutes apart.

We spoke with the manager and demanded to be compensated for the meal that arrived 45 minutes late as well as the giant pretzel appetizer.  The manager was very gracious and apologetic for the poor service blaming it on how early it was in the season and being understaffed.

There was a motorcycle show at the venue that day which they knew about months in advance so I am not sure at all why they couldn't have been staffed up for that day well in advance even if they used a temp service.

We just left from here for dinner. The service was pretty bad. I am usually pretty understanding and when I saw the sign that they were understaffed I can accept that.

That being said we sat down at 6:15pm and didn’t even get greeted by our waitress til 6:30pm (not even a “be right with you”). When she approached all she said is “Ready to order?” No apology for the wait, no ask for drinks or appetizers or questions on the menu. I’m all for being understaffed during these times, but the polite thing for any service oriented position is to at minimum apologize for any delays to be courteous and not make the guest feel rushed due to being understaffed.

She never came to check on us until after we were done eating which is when we asked for the bill.

Received zero service. Other people sat and received their food before we even got our drinks. Which ended up coming after our food. Waited at least 45 minutes to have the server even come to our table all with 4 toddlers. The waitress kept saying she was busy but there was hardly anyone there at 6pm. I believe it’s because she didn’t want to seat our large table so we split in groups, which was fine. We barely received food and just gave up on sides/salads/beverages/kids desserts. Asked to speak to the manager once we were done she was gone but the girl explained that we were dealing with the managers daughter and it is an issue… I would highly recommend going elsewhere.
