While the tea and pastries were alright, I'm giving the experience two stars for how poorly the waitress handled giving information about food safety. I have a severe gluten allergy, but we knew that the menu had GF items so that's why we came. When we sat down, the waitress (a blonde haired woman wearing shiny nurse clogs) asked if we had any food allergies. I told her I was allergic to gluten and needed all my items made GF. She took our order and left the table.
I then proceed to begin eating the items already on the table (a lemon curd, whipped cream, etc) because she made no mention that these items were unsafe. She came back a few minutes later, after I'd already had a heaping spoonful of lemon curd, and says, "Oh, by the way, the lemon curd is not GF. I usually tell people beforehand..."
Well, I'd already eaten it at that point. Also, that should have been mentioned when she came to the table the first time and asked about allergies. She didn't seem the least bit bothered or apologetic that I'd just consumed something that would make me ill. It's a matter of food safety and as a person working in the food industry, she needs to be diligent about letting people know what's safe to eat when she becomes aware of allergies.
Anyways, I became violently ill that evening and was unable to sleep through the night. These symptoms last for days, so I'm intensely frustrated and will be...

As the only woman of color in the building, dressed appropriately I felt off about her turning me and 3 woman away before tea time had even started. She wouldn't talk to me about making a reservation because she "needed to seat reservations first".
She told me to wait until 12:15 and we could be seated after they sat their reservations..I waited til everyone was sat and there were still available tables. She said sorry we're fully booked but come around 1:45 and we can squeeze you in then. I came back right after 1:45 and she said they were fully booked and she couldn't help us.
As a paying member at the hotel I wasted an incredible amount of time under the false impression she could help me during a girls trip with my husband's family 🙄
When we left the tea room at 2:00 pm there were still open tables that not a single person had been sat at since I got there at 11:45 before tea even started.

Read moreCustomer service, at least today was awful. The barista did not greet us in any way, to start. She then proceeds to continue her conversation with the two at the counter for at least four minutes before they make an actual order. At this point there are people in line behind us. After giving the couple in front their order, the barista continues to gossip with them, stepping from behind the counter to talk with them. “I heard a rumor about John” she says while stepping from behind the counter. WHILE IM STILL WAITING TO ORDER. I expect more from customer service anywhere. At least apologize for the wait and say you’ll be right with me. Don’t ignore customers to chit chat with your friends. Needless to say, I walked out. Beyond...
