My boyfriend and I checked in on a Monday night and stayed for one night. We got the ultimate romance package that was AMAZING! The package included a bottle of champagne, a $50 credit for a dinner and a $45 credit for breakfast. It also included a couples massage.
When we first arrived there was a gentleman playing the piano. Very soothing and definitely set the tone to the lobby. When we got in we got a free upgrade to the Reagan Presidential Suite! This room was top notch! It had two bathrooms, one had a tub that you could swim laps in and the other one was just a half bathroom.
When we got to the spa we were greeted right away and taken our separate ways. The changing room for the ladies had a steam room, showers and a sitting area with complementary tea and snacks. The hotel I guess has bee hives on the roof so they use that honey for all of their bathroom products. (Nice touch)
After the nice massage we when to the Ship Tavern (casual attire). This place is an easy $60 per person type of restaurant. The bread that they brought out while we waited for our dinner was edible to say the least. (Texas road house has better bread and is not a four star restaurant) I had the filet of beef and the sauce it had on it was gross it took the flavor away completely. My boyfriend had the prime rib which I ended up eating half of since my dinner tasted horrible. The crab cakes were delicious thought. The service was not great. The server didn't even bother asking how our meal was. (I expected a lot more from a place that was this pricy) not only that but she barely came to our table.
In the morning we got breakfast which was ok. Nothing special however the prices were better. And service was a lot better as well.
Over all this hotel is great just not the dinning. If they are going to charge so much for food they should probably step...
Read moreThe ONLY thing my friend and I liked was the room. The hotel itself was beautiful; The room was nice, spacious and the bed was super comfy. The live music was a nice touch also.
I was charged $150 when the deposit online says $75. Made me wonder if that was a race thing because of our skin color we have to pay more. I got another random charge from them for $25.94, not big but the hotel couldnât provide any reasons for this additional charge. I let it go. We stayed 3 nights, on our LAST night as we were showering and getting dressed for our last dinner security kept showing up at our door, banging like the police. The first time he said someone complained we were smoking, we responded with âyou must have the wrong roomâ, we were in our robes not fully dressed and explained to him we were rushing to make our dinner reservations. 7 minutes later heâs banging on our door AGAIN and said âthis is the only room Iâm getting a smoke smell fromâ we explained again we had not been smoking and offered them to check our room after we walk out since they werenât able to come in while in there due to Covid. WITHOUT checking our room first they immediately went downstairs to charge a $300 smoking fee luckily my card was LOCKED and they didnât get anything, DENIED! Thats what yâall get for being greedy when our room throughout our stay was immaculate. We were never in our room we were out doing things every day of our stay then coming back at night for sleep. We gave them no issues whatsoever and I BELIEVE we were singled out because we were the ONLY two black women in the hotel! We believe they assumed we were the smokers because of our skin color. So fudge you The Brown Palace cause you do not treat your brown customers equally! I would NEVER return. The nicest staff was the guys who stood outside welcoming everyone and assisting...
Read moreI wish I wouldâve read the reviews prior to wasting my money here. My daughter and I went here and got the signature massages, facials and pedicures. The massages and facials were fine but nothing to write home about. The pedicures were awful. They had no hot water available due to construction that was going on. They had to make warm water with an electric tea kettle and add it to the tubs. No massage chairs, no liners used in the tubs, limited colors to choose from, short leg/foot massage, and just VERY basic pedicures. For $70 each, I was super disappointed in the pedicure service. We couldâve gone pretty much anywhere else and received a better pedicure service for that price.
Additionally, their ladies lounge was closed due to construction, which I didnât find out until two days prior to our appointment. While we were at the spa, there was a lot of loud hammering and banging on the walls. It was an unpleasant experience and a huge disappointment, as this was supposed to be a gift for my daughterâs 16th birthday. The spa overall is outdated. I was surprised that no one warned us ahead of time that we would hear the construction going on and at least let us make the decision whether to cancel our appointments. I expected a lot more from the Spa at The Brown Palace, especially considering we paid over $800.
Follow up review: The manager kindly reached out to me shortly after posting my initial review online. He offered to give us a partial refund of $405. Although our experience at the spa was not ideal, the manager rectified the situation in a timely manner and provided excellent customer service. I definitely wasnât expecting anyone to reach out to us, let alone give us a partial refund. It was greatly...
