This place is a total vibe. Ughhh.... I love the decor, the feel, the service, all of it! What a great spot! I will be coming here OFTEN in the future.
I went here for the first time on a date and met Cameron, Golden Hour's Asst GM and onsite sommelier who was very kind and inviting to the space. When we walked in, he placed us on a waiting list but pushed us up to get some wonderful seats. I told him the type of flavors I typically like in wines and he worked his sommelier magic 🪄 ✨ and picked out two wines for me to try which were both PERFECT for what my flavor palette was for the evening. He then also gave me a "surprise" wine for me to try which ended up being my favorite wine of the three I had that evening.
He was very well traveled and extremely informative about the wines, history, and flavors. We enjoyed his attentiveness to making our evening a very memorable and fun one.
TIPS FOR GOLDEN HOUR: GET A RESERVATION - You will want to get a reservation ahead of time in the future. We walked in and Cameron said they were converting to reservations. Also the place is smaller than you expect, so you'll want to get a reservation so you're not on top of people at the bar.. WINE - Ask Cameron for his favorites or preferences if you're ordering Wine. I was thoroughly impressed. PARKING - is street parking, so you'll want to give yourself some time to find it in the busy area of the Highlands. COCKTAILS - Ask the staff about the flavors in the cocktails. There were a lot of cocktails that had different ingredients then I was familiar with, but the staff is super friendly and would love to tell you their...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place because I had seen it all over social media and it looked so cute! When we got there at 5, the host told us it was an hour wait but we could grab a drink at the bar. We stood at the end of the bar, ordered some wine and then after an hour, we flagged down the host (who had literally gone MIA for a while) and asked about our spot in line. He says we have three tables in front of us and it’s going to be an hour… keep in mind, we had already been waiting an hour. I asked him about the wait and he said there were just a lot of people there. No apologies, nothing. If we hadn’t of asked him, we never would have known it was going to be another hour OR MORE, so we decided to leave and go to another bar. While we were walking by Golden Hour to go to another place because the wait was so ridiculous, we see not one but TWO empty tables inside with reserved signs on them!!! Literally, the place wasn’t even that packed or full on the other side of the bar area…. So crazy! We basically paid $25 for a mediocre wine flight, just to stand at the end of bar and wait for a table that was never going to come available because it was empty to begin with. The service was meh, the wine was meh, I think this place is just overhyped but the...
Read moreWell that was upsetting. Thought it would be a cool spot in our neighborhood. It was awkward from beginning to end. We were told we could wait at the bar until a table opened up, then people swooped in and took it. We had multiple people ask to take our drinks at the bar and then it took forever for our drinks to arrive. My friend asked a question about how French Malbec was different than Argentinian Malbecs, only to be insulted in reply. The bartender finished our cocktails eventually, put them on the bar behind her, and they sat there for another five minutes. When we asked for our bill, it took three dudes debating over the cash register another five minutes to figure it out. I hope this was growing pains…
Edit Jan 4: After receiving an appropriate acknowledgement from management I decided to go back and give it another chance. We found an open seat, asked a question about the wine, received a nice comparison, and enjoyed our wine and cheese...
