My boyfriend and I just got done watching a movie on Tuesday and we were craving some good food. We arrived about 50ish minutes before they closed and it was empty. The chefs and waitress greeted us and the waitress got us some menus before leading us to a table that was half booth and half chairs. The sauce bottles here were probably the nicest looking soy sauce bottles that I have ever seen. The interior is okay, nothing really special or really going for a theme. It felt more like a bar vibe with the hanging lights, furnishing and colors.
My boyfriend decided on the Seared Scallop Roll and smoked salmon nigiri while I got the Tonkotsu ramen. We got the nigiri first then the ramen and after several minutes is when we got the last item. I don't know if they had wrapped up for the day and that's why it took so long but it was also awkward eating as different items arrived at different times. The ramen broth was different as I am not used to it being a beef broth but it was almost extremely salty. The lack of usual toppings such as wood ear mushroom, bamboo shoots, corn, and etc. was disappointing especially with the price ($19) and how many Federal Way ramen spots offer that for a better price and taste. In addition, my egg did not have yolk in it which was strange and it's a critical point of a ramen egg. I will admit that the chashu was delicious and I appreciate the amount of fish cakes provided, but that's my bias as I love fish cakes. My boyfriend was content with his sushi which is good and it was presented well.
Service was prompt and somewhat professional. Our waitress seemed nice but she would start pacing around us towards the end and kept near us as we were finishing our meal. I understand that they were trying to close but circling around us trying to look busy to get us to pay is not the way to make us feel welcome. I understood as I was a waitress but she could have mentioned that they were closing soon and leave the receipt on our table. I am a slow eater and it feels more pressuring to have someone be close while I'm eating to eat.
We might return but not sure as the experience was extremely awkward and I rather go to other sushi restaurants in Federal Way that are far superior in taste, price and service. Definitely would arrive earlier to give it a...
Read moreMy husband and I have been here many times since the remodel. Normally we love it. However, the last time was horrific. 1. When we arrived no greeting just a woman who was too busy to even say hello. She walked so far ahead of us to a table that I wasn't even sure if it was us she was seating! When she tossed two menus on the table I assumed that was for us- 2. We sat down and looked over the menu. No one asked if we wanted anything to drink. 20 minutes later we flag the lady down to take our order- again she is too busy to even be polite. We wait another 20 minutes for my 4 pieces of ala cart sushi! My husband's order, a Jack n the Box roll, never came until, once again I flagged someone down. Now here is the clincher, the sushi they brought me i was waiting to eat so I could eat with my husband when his food arrived- Instead of that happening the rude waitress came over and exclaimed, "that is not your order!" She then grabs the plate of sushi. Now, mind you, that sushi was on our table for 20 minutes. We dumped our ginger on the plate and touched it. Well, the waitress grabs it and gives it to someone else- gross. Anyway, when they finally bring my measly 4 pieces of sushi and I remind them (way later) to bring my husbands order...we still have no soy sauce- I had to ask for that too. Hands down worst experience. Food 3/5 Service 0/5 Atmosphere 1/5 (Atmosphere got a low rating because the table next to us stayed dirty the entire time we were there-plus not a smile in the place. In retrospect, we should have walked out. I cannot believe we PAID for such a terrible experience. Won't be back. Ps. For management reference we were there the evening a photo shoot was happening near the sushi bar. I did tell the waitress we had a terrible experience...she offered to take off 5 dollars off of our 48$...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aji Sushi Grill for a birthday celebration with a group of 12, and I can't say enough good things about our experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with great service that set a wonderful tone for the evening.
The meal began with hot towels and a delicious soup that was the perfect start. The menu offered excellent choices for rolls, and every dish that came out was not only plentiful but also beautifully presented. The freshness of the sushi was remarkable, and I truly enjoyed every single bite.
The staff was incredibly helpful, providing great recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. My favorite dish was the omakase, which was the first to arrive at our table. The sushi chef showcased his skills with expertly cut fish that was simply amazing.
Despite our large group, all the food came out quickly, allowing us to enjoy our meal without any delays. It was a fun and memorable evening, filled with laughter, delicious food, and great company.
I can't wait to go back to Aji Sushi Grill for another round of their fantastic sushi! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh sushi and...
