Buc's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

Walked several blocks after calling to check if they would be open. Turned away at door because the lady checking id's said we were too drunk. When asked for the observed behavior that led to drunk determination, no explanation was provided. Can't say if its a cool spot but there was a minimal amount of people there and mostly rude interaction with front line staff. Let the locals have it and tourists check out something better. Update: 3/18/20 Figured maybe someone would reach out but surprise. They haven't. Taking a look at recent reviews it seems stars have dropped. Perhaps training is needed to help determine who you want in your bar. Or maybe that has already happened and it isnt about suspicion of intoxication but suspicion of being a tourist. Would have been nice to shoot some pool but we dont want to be somewhere we arent wanted more than staff doesnt want us there. Good luck with the business though. Absolutely love the ambience, music was everything we listen to and more, the workers and the customers are all friendly and great food as well! Everything about this place is great, if you visit Fredericksburg please be sure to make this a stop !! My love and I went on a Sunday night around 11 and they were the only bar and grill that had the kitchen open this late ! I got the chicken bacon spinach wrap with sweet potatoes fries and my hubby got the double meat cheeseburger and both were phenomenal. At The entrance they do ask for ID and check the purses to make sure everyone else is safe! Appreciated it ! The bartender, Tony, was great, he was professional and attentive the entire time and exerted a great vibe! My hubby and I had about 3 beers each and shots and the tab was surprisingly affordable! They do allow in house smoking but it was no problem for me (I'm a non-smoker) and my hubby is a smoker. He really enjoyed this little perk and even made a friend that offered him a cigarette. They had a couple of pool tables and it was very fun. The people there were very nice and friendly and just overall great spot. We will definitely be stopping by there again when we come back to visit this...

I had an awful experience at Buc’s that left me deeply disturbed. The staff’s behavior was blatantly racist. From the moment we entered, my friends and I, who are hispanics, noticed that we were treated differently from other patrons.

We were looked at weird. And treated differently. I specifically was asked to leave because I was “stumbling.” I explained that I was not stumbling. I currently walk with a limp because I had a foot injury. He said I don’t see any injury so can’t believe that. They were looking for a reason to get us out. The guys got into it with the door guy about it. They were all just racist and made us feel uncomfortable. Everyone noticed it. This is completely unacceptable in any establishment, especially in a city like Fredericksburg, where diversity should be celebrated.
