American Higgledy Piggledy — Local services in Fredericksburg

We stumbled into a gallery event and fashion show where the shabby chic design and country interior design of Carol Hicks Bolton was on showcase at her new Antiquities Laboratoire de Design. Even if you are not into a shabby chic esthetic there are some real gems to be found in their large show room. It's off the beaten path of main street in Fredericksburg, Texas and if just passing through worth a look. My only suggestion would be to have one section with a bit more "finished" pieces. As we entered, one of the ladies who greeted us invited us to walk around. “It’s like a museum!” she said. And she was right. Except these pieces were for sale.

The piece I wanted — an old framed map of Balboa, Spain — was priced out of my range ($295) but also well below museum/auction price. 😄

This store, and Carol Hicks Bolton Antiques next door and, next to it, the café/restaurant with dishes and glassware for sale, were amazing to wander through.

Very cute stuff. Worth a stop to see what you might need. Love the textiles and they have the fabric available so you can make your own. Please stop in their traffic has been lower because of the pandemic. I'll bet they will even help you...
