We'd first been to West End Pizza several months ago, and we'd been disappointed at being seated at a window faced into the sun and then by underwhelming pizza. But, I'd heard some decent things about the place, and there's not a lot of pizza around. We thought that maybe we'd just ordered badly and decided to give the restaurant another shot.
Things didn't go well. We walked in with our two month old at 5:20. Only one couple was in the main room waiting for food, and so we expected a pretty quick meal. We ordered very quickly (the waiter joked us about how fast we ordered). And then, we began to wait. About an hour later, I began to notice that everyone who'd come in after us, including people who'd come in about 40 minutes after us, were getting food. We began looking for the waiter.
Instead, the manager appeared. She could see that the baby--after being in the restaurant for an hour--was starting to become frustrated. She claimed that the kitchen had messed up, and she said she was embarrassed and apologized for the long wait. She said that the meal would arrive in about 10 minutes and would be on her.
More than 10 minutes later--about an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering--the pizza finally arrived. We ate quickly since we were running very late (we're from out of town, still had shopping to do, and a drive home) and since the baby had finally gotten really upset. When the bill arrived, the manager had reduced the total but had not offered the meal for free.
I'm not sure that two bad trips to a restaurant are enough to make a judgment on its quality. But I did learn that this is the sort of business that can be really slow, can acknowledge that they've ruined your plans and made your evening miserable, and then still charge you for it. That's not a good way to do business. We were very disappointed and will...
Read moreWe felt we had hit the restaurant lotto when we were seated right away on a busy Friday night having been given 45 mins to 1.5 hour wait times elsewhere. Little did we know we would’ve been better off sitting on our thumbs discussing the super cute things our wives had bought that day. The six of us range in ages between 40 and 50 and none of us had experienced this level of futility in regards to an attempt to simply serve two pizzas, three salads and a grilled chicken breast. An hour in and we had no food and not a single refill of our drinks. We counted a dozen happy people walk in the front door and walk back out because they weren’t even seated. If only we had been that lucky. Two of our restless crew had to get us our only refill of drinks and some silverware. Finally after almost an hour and half our patience left the building as we had gotten the pizza at room temp, only two of the three salads correctly made and the barn yard simple grilled chicken breast was still MIA. The icing on the cake was we decided to wave the white flag and asked for our bills. When one of them came with the grilled chicken still on the bill our chicken breast less friend lost it. He demanded we only pay for the alcohol on all the bjlls. They managed to mess that up and people who didn’t drink beer paid for those who did. If a place on main street in F-Burg is half full on a Friday night then...
Read moreStopped by as a pit stop on our journey from west Texas back to central Texas. We were seated immediately on the patio and our server was quick to take our drink/app order. Things seemed normal at first, but definitely took a different turn the longer we stayed. Our appetizer(calamari) came out and it was ok (nothing crazy) but then our server had told us he charged us for a ranch(which was NOT requested) and then proceeded to take our main dish order (pepperoni pizza+ jalapeños). The food itself was mediocre, but fair for the price points. In regards to the pizza (apart from the weird cut), the cheese and pepperoni seemed generic/fake, or in other words “frozen pizza” vibes. As we continued to eat our meal, we noticed strange behaviors from the wait staff. For example, two employees walked off in the middle of their shift (one who presumably peed/spilled something on themselves). Another waiter, who serviced the table behind us, had forgotten to return a card after a transaction and honestly too familiar (to the point of second-hand embarrassment) with the table as well. Another hostess/waitress was also meandering in the background, and avoiding any customer contact. I’m not sure if they were over staffed or it was an “off day” but neither the food or service were redeemable. Kudos for offering RC soda and dog-friendliness- one star was added...
