We were pretty underwhelmed. Saw the great reviews and stopped by on our way home from camping. Interesting variety of flavors, and all genuinelly homemade (you can see the kitchen), but we found the flavor to be nothing sprcial and the treats WAY overpriced, then they add a service charge AND still present a tip option. One daughter did not like hers (the description on the label did not match what she tasted). If you order slightly off the menu, it may cause confusion (they have "milk shake sundaes" and they have "malted mint sundae", but when we asked for a malt (milkshake) with one of the flavors, we had to explain that it's just a milkshake with malt, and two employees had to discuss it. My daughters asked for three KID scoops (4.25), toppings (1.50 which got charged PER SCOOP, even for the child that only wanted whipped crean), 9.50 for the malts that did not taste like malt. Add service charge, we ended up paying over $75 for 5 people. For ice cream. That did not blow our minds. One server was very nice, 2 were rather cold - but I get it, it was very busy. But when I asked to review the charges and saw that they had charged per scoop for toppings, even whipped cream (the 1.50 toppings on the menu is "up to three selections", so honestly, I kind of get it on the other toppings, but for that kid, couldn't her whipped cream have been her 'three'?), I was just told, "well, I don't set the prices" while she crumpled up my receipt and waved me off. Yikes. Next time we'll try one of the other places in...
Read moreMeh. I found a beard hair in my ice cream immediately before I started eating. It definitely came from the people behind the counter because they both had a short beard and one of them matched the color of the hair I found.
They had a samoa (girl scout cookies) flavor and apparently it tasted like disappointment according to my friend who tried it. Also, they didn't put all the cone varieties they had on the display counter, and when my friend asked about a flavor of cone that clearly wasn't on display, they responded with "all the flavors are right here," and completely ignored the request. Through both of our interactions with the people behind the counter, we suspect that they might be a bit high on the job. Honestly, I don't have an issue with that but I just wish it didn't affect the customer service experience as much as it did.
The other ice cream flavors I tried were okay... out of all the ice cream stores in the small towns I've ever been to, nothing about these flavors really stood out to me. I feel like I'm paying for the novelty of the branding and sitting in a somewhat clean-ish place to eat my ice cream. All of which I'm happy to do, but had we known about the overall experience me and my friend was going to have here, we would have went elsewhere.
The 2 stars is for the overall experience. Would not visit again not because this place is bad, but just doesn't seem worth my...
Read moreLovely locally made ice cream shop with fresh waffle cones and a staff that knows what they're doing. I was so happily surprised when we could get two flavors for our single scoop on a sugar cone and the server cheerfully scooped some cheesecake out it into the bin of strawberry and scooped my strawberry ice cream around my cheesecake ice cream!!
My husband asked for his toasted coconut to be under his other flavor and the server had done that one normally, one scoop over the other, but mine he'd layered together and it was delicious that way! I loved it. And the biggest surprise was that when we went to pay, they charged us for two kiddy scoops instead of two singles, because they said that's all that can fit on a sugar cone.
And the ice cream was very good, as were the cones. We're going to keep going back here whenever we're in...
