Dog Gone Coffee — Restaurant in Helen

I’ll start with the negatives: I was really hoping for great coffee given the 4.9 avg star rating. I’m hoping it was a one-off experience. My “best of Helen” $7 latte was awful. My husband and I each got the caramel/toffee latte and we had an identical experience. First of all, it was extremely hot - we had but the smallest sip to test the temperature and we both burned our tongues. I’m writing this review a day later and my tongue is still scalded. Second, it did not taste like a latte - it tasted like they used coffee and not espresso as it was very watered down. And beyond being watered down - neither of us could taste any caramel / toffee flavoring? The cashier - she was cold to customers and condescending to her colleagues. Maybe it just wasn’t her morning. There was another customer there who told the cashier that their food was forgotten about / others who ordered after them were getting served first. She dismissed them, responded coldly. I realize it was very busy but I’ve seen plenty of workers in the service industry able to be stressed but still pleasant and provide good customer service.

Positive: the place is cute, you are able to sit outside on the patio with a nice view or inside on one of the sofas, some window seating. I liked the menu style - fits the European theme with taxes being included in the displayed price. Dog friendly (I’d hope, being called Dog Gone). The line was long but they were able to keep it moving relatively quickly. Got my drinks quick after ordering. There is some parking - maybe about 8-10 spots? The other girls making the drinks were sweet.

One of Helen's newest coffee shops, situated adjacent to Heidi's, is truly exceptional. The staff are remarkably friendly and courteous, demonstrating a keen commitment to meeting customers' needs despite its recent opening. Featuring a stunning interior design with light wood accents and comfortable seating, complemented by a delightful patio area, this coffee shop is an ideal destination for families. They've knocked it out of the park! My wife and I absolutely LOVED the Bulldog Brulee latte . The atmosphere was very relaxing which is hard to find in the busy town of Helen. We enjoyed our visit so much we returned and got The Dirty Bird panini the following day and I've never in my life had a sandwich so tasty. The sandwich has turkey, bacon, cheddar and Chipotle mayo on a Jalapeño sourdough bread. Do yourself a favor and GET IT!! They locally source alot of their ingredients and you can tell.
