Good experience at Lucy’s. The staff is friendly and offers good service.
The pizza is fine, how you like it depends on how you like your pizza. I usually get it by the slice. One slice is plenty for a lunch or small dinner. It’s a big, New York style slice.
The crust is on the darker side but doesn’t taste burnt or overdone. You can tell they either put the crust in before adding toppings or they use a very hot stone and oven because the crust is always done more than the cheese. Again, none of this is bad, I really like it, it just depends on how you like your pizza. The cheese is always warm and gooey, never any dark spots where the cheese begins to brown. The sauce has a good flavor, but is a bit thinner than other places. You hardly notice it’s so thin though while you’re dining just because it has a strong enough taste that it doesn’t need to be a super saucy pizza. It’s not a super strong sauce, but it’s strong enough that it adds something without there needing to be a lot of it.
They offer a topping of the week, which is nice. They also have good deals throughout the week. My favorite deal is Tuesday, half off slice day. So Tuesday, before 4pm, you can get a huge slice of NY style pizza for $2. No matter how you like your pizza, whether or not Lucy’s is your favorite, that’s a good deal. The pizza by the slice toppings are more limited than their pie toppings, just because you’re not ordering a full pizza, but they have the essential toppings, plus the topping of the week.
I don’t think they add basil unless you specifically order it. They have specific pizzas you can order, or you can custom order. They also do calzones, but I’ve never had one, as far as I know there is not discount calzone day. They offer big and small calzones. I don’t think they do stromboli, panini, or panzerotti. They do offer cannoli, which I’ve never tried, but it looks good. They also offer wings. Thursday is $4 off wing day, so if you want to try it that’s the day to do it.
Edit Tried the cannoli. It’s a small, inexpensive cannoli. About $1.30-ish for about an inch and a half of cannoli. The cannoli itself was very good, especially for what I’ve seen being in Idaho (that’s not a jab against Idaho, I’m sure y’all have fine cannoli, I just haven’t seen a lot of it.) The shell was crunchier and crumblier, which is how a fresh, fried and cooled cannoli ought to be, not a soggy, doughy tube. The ricotta filling had substance to it and felt like an actually cannoli filling. They may have used cream cheese, I’m not sure, but it could’ve been a traditional ricotta filling. Either way it was tasty. It didn’t feel like a cheap, grocery store or gas station cannoli where they just put whipped cream or whatever into a tube of pastry dough. It felt and tasted like a home style cannoli, albeit it also tasted and looked like it came from a chain pizzeria selling NY style pizza and calzones. However you take that, it’s a good cannoli, not big, but good flavor. If you’re debating whether or not you have room for dessert, just spring the buck-thirty and get the cannoli. I got it with chocolate sauce. I got it to go, so they put the chocolate sauce in a to-go cup, which I dipped the cannoli in. I don’t know if they drizzle the sauce or not if you order dine-in, but either way it’s no big deal. The cioccolato added a bit and was tasty, but I wouldn’t say it’s the remarkable part of the cannoli. This has been a long disposition on a short cannoli, so in short, it’s good and worth a try. If you like cannoli, you’ll enjoy whether or not you’re a cannoli purist....
Read moreLove their pizza! Because of this I gave two stars instead of te one or even zero I believe they deserved for their service, which is what this review is written for.
I have been home sick since yesterday. I called them for delivery, this location being 3 miles from my house. I was told I was just outside of the delivery perimeter but that she would ask the driver if he would be willing to drive out the additional half mile to my house. I said that would be great because I’m still contagious and prefer not to go out until I’m not.
She returned and said that he wasn’t willing to deliver to me because it would put his other deliveries before me at risk, or something (the background noise made it hard to understand the last bit but he wasn’t willing and that’s what was important to proceed with ordering). She then told me to call a location on Hitt Rd which is twice as far away, and she said that they would be able to deliver to me. I said as much regarding their distance and she said she didn’t know…? Me, quite confused at this point simply wanted pizza and to go on with my evening.
So I said, okay if I drive up to pick it up can you bring it out to me since it shows you do drive-up on Google? She paused and said that she could do that. So I ordered and 40 minutes later, went to pick up my extra cheese pizza. She brought it out but didn’t know my total so I gave her payment and when she returned she said thank you and to have a good night then paused waiting for a tip. Needless to say, I was disappointed in this location and their service. And next time, I will seek to find the Hitt Rd location she spoke of that doesn’t show up in search. Might really be the better choice for...
Read moreWe came on a Saturday night and ordered buffalo wings, two salads, and a pizza. Our server brought our drinks and I noticed a lipstick print on the wine glass, so we wiped it off with water and a napkin. Next, our server brought the wings in a timely manner with plenty of napkins but no utensils. We ate the wings, which were amazing. Then he brought the pizza and plates. No salads, so we asked for utensils for the salads, which made him remember to check on the salads. He brought the salads and utensils. We ate the basil and mushroom pizza, which was also amazing! Absolute perfection. He brought our salads, which were also good. He did return a few times to ask how everything tasted, but he didn’t offer a soda refill. When we were finished, we asked for a pizza box. He brought it and he helped me put the pizza in it with me holding it and he sliding it on the box. Then I had no place to set it down because we had all the plates from the pizza, wings, and salads on the table. My husband helped me push the plates aside, but the server did not clear the plates and wanted us to pay. He stood there as my husband paid and tipped him a very average tip for very average service. The server thanked us and left without picking up any plates. All I can really say is that their food is awesome and we may have to endure poorly trained staff if we want their food. When I was in the business for 10 years, clearing the plates was standard. It’s very awkward to pay the bill with plates everywhere plus it feels very insulting that they do so little but can’t wait...
