During my stay in Indianapolis, generally, I did not find a significant amount of substantial vegan options. However, I was incredibly relieved to finally stumble across this place. It is located inside the mall, in the dining area. There was not anyone at the counter when I walked up, but there is a clear kiosk for orders. I asked the place next door to make sure they were open, and I was assured someone was there and working in the back.
The menu is a little limited, but appropriate for the location. After poking around at the different options, I went with the Tacos with a side of Cornbread. There is a sign that cautions customers to the potential wait time, but my food was ready very quickly. The person who handed it to me was also warm and friendly.
The tacos were very pleasant and came with lots of different toppings, which I thought was fun. I was really impressed with the sour cream, and the cornbread was everything I wanted and needed; I saved it for last. Southerner approved👍🏻 I think one of the prominent appeals of this place is that everything really is prepared specially. It was like eating a home-cooked meal outside of home. I felt appreciated as a customer. Overall, I'm glad this restaurant is here, providing healthy, delicious food to those who seek it. I would gladly visit again and try something else:)
A note, to whomever it may concern: Surprisingly, despite being less than a mile away, this place was not prominently listed when I searched for "vegan food." There didn't appear to be any other vegan restaurants close to my location at all; this one only appeared when I searched for "food" and just kept scrolling. I'm not sure how these things work on the backend, all I know is that I really would have liked to know about this place before my last...
Read moreThis is located in the food court in the mall. Most importantly, the food was pretty good. I did have a few issues with how the business is ran, though. First off, the place looks closed. If I had not come to the mall with the intention of eating here, I would have chosen another stall because I didn't see any employees. It may be that there was only one staff member working, but it was pretty off-putting that I couldn't ask anybody for assistance. Secondly, there was a $3.41 service fee AND tipping was loud and proud. I paid over $20 for a single burger. Once again, I would have chosen a different place at that point. I left a tip because I was unsure if it was required only to see that an additional service fee was implemented. So, for the future: I would 1. Have a staff member visible and 2. Include the service fee with the regular price. I didn't appreciate feeling lied to about how much I would be paying. Additionally, while my burger was good, it totally fell apart on me. I ate it with a fork, haha. I got the southern paradise burger. I wonder if they can be served in a different format so that it is a bit easier to...
Read moreFood is ok. I normally don’t review businesses other than when I’m leaving 5-stars, but I was incredibly disappointed by the customer service experience. The only way to order was at a self-serve kiosk, which adds a mandatory 20% service charge, and also defaults to a similar tip on top. The service charge is mentioned somewhere on their menu above the store (I had to look for it), but not in the total during checkout, instead it’s hidden under a generic taxes/fees line. My $12 meal with those charges and taxes initially totalled around $19. This is a take out counter. There is no table service or even a human taking your order, and a service charge is not warranted, but this business should especially not have the audacity to add a default tip at checkout. I wonder how many unsuspecting patrons end up paying 40% over menu price (before taxes) for their meals, thinking they’re only paying one service charge. If they feel the need to charge more money, then charge more money, but don’t do it in sneaky...
