A few things...
First, we come to this place EVERY year in December! Without fail. Every year! It's a great place to hang out with our friends, eat, drink and avoid shopping AND all of the shoppers! ;-) I think we gravitate to this place because it resembles the bar we hang out at in Yakima every Friday night... and this place makes us feel right at home. With that being said, our 'home bar' is what is famously known as a 'dive bar' (the bar itself claims that title as well...not just the patrons!) and I use that term with love and endearment. We LOVE a good dive bar. I met my husband in a dive bar. Some of my best memories are at dive bars. So when I was sitting at the bar waiting for a drink at this place, myself and two other patrons I didn't know, were engaged in a conversation and I mentioned how much we love this place and come to this dive bar each year! Well, Jaime, the bouncer, happened to overhear my conversation and said that the term 'dive bar' is derogatory and that the Post Office is NOT a dive bar. He and I had a lengthy conversation about this term and I still stand my ground on this and will die on this hill....a dive bar, to ME....is an unglamorous, dated, rough-around-the-edges, simple bar that caters to locals, offers a simple menu (usually a lot of fried items), has dim lighting, pull tabs, neon signs, firm waiters/waitresses annnnnnnnnnnd a bouncer! Again, I love a good dive bar and I get so many 'dive bar vibes' walking into this place and no one can convince me otherwise. And the reviews here are further evidence of that....even the reviews others have left of that bouncer's treatment of them validate it. I'm sure there are "bad" dive bars out there but this isn't one of them.
So on to the actual review of this place....we love it! Anitra is awesome! We love her! The drinks were good, the food was exactly what we expected for jalapeno poppers and cheese sticks and the deep fried pickle spears (not on the menu but ask for them!!) were so delicious! Great service!!!
We'll definitely be back!!! You can set your watch and...
Read moreI came to Leavenworth for my birthday, which was this past Sunday with my intention of grabbing a drink and watching a very significant and important football game to me. Post Office has roughly 12 TVs, and they were all playing the Seahawks game, understandably as we're in Washington. We sit down in a corner of the room and ask the bartender/waitress if she could change one of the TVs to the game I wanted to watch. Just one small TV in the corner. She flat out refuses. She then proceeded to be exceedingly rude to me, and basically rubbed in my face that she wasn't going to change the TV. I was shocked. I looked for other people working, and could only see this one woman, 2:30pm on 12/30/2018. This was my worst experience in Leavenworth by far, beautiful town. However this was the worst part of my birthday, and for the rest of my life when people mention this town I will implore them not to come to this establishment. The worst experience I've had at a bar in my life. Terrible service, rude server, felt hostile, unwelcome,...
Read moreHorrible place! Go somewhere else!! My husband and I were out for a walk on a slow Monday night 9pm. We popped in to warm up. The only worker - Sharon - was nasty, slow and didn't want to be bothered by us. Rude! We were paying customers, but she was ticked I ordered water. It was beyond loud. Lots of obnoxious locals drunk and staggering around. Crazy place to stop in and people watch but then it got dicey. We decided to leave. Our bill was $12, I tipped $3 for a total of $15. Guess what?! You got it, when they ran it through my bank they ran it for $24!!! DOUBLE OUR ACTUAL BILL. I have the receipt to prove it. They probably do this often to tourists thinking they'll never notice. DON'T GO IN! So I call a couple days later to straighten it out, guess what... only the owner can handle this (I think "Sharon" answered the phone) and won't be in until Monday next week! AND SHE HANGS UP ON ME! Really?! THIEF!! That's what someone is that takes your debit card and fraudulently charges a different amount. DON'T GO IN! GO...
