Somewhere along the rugged contours of Highway 101 in Lincoln City, Oregon, lies an uncharted bastion of culinary rebellion—a fish stand so unassuming it could easily be a mirage, created for those weary travelers hungry for a true taste of the ocean's bounty.
This no-frills outpost, manned by a sea-savant who doubles as a sage of salmon, offers not just food but a transcendental experience. Here, the smoked salmon is not merely prepared, but conjured with a gusto that could only be described as otherworldly, infused with flavors so profound they verge on the mystical. Each piece tells a story of the sea, a narrative so rich you could swear Poseidon himself had a hand in its creation.
The fresh fish, a spectacle of freshness so surreal, suggests the stand might be a facade for a magical maritime portal. The fishmonger, wielding his knife with the precision of a poet, reveals more than just the flesh of the sea creatures—he reveals their very essence.
This stand isn’t just a stop along the highway; it’s a pilgrimage site for those who seek the ultimate communion with the ocean’s offerings. Nestled against the backdrop of Lincoln City's scenic vistas, it serves as a reminder of the wild, untamed spirit of the Pacific Northwest.
So, when you cruise down Highway 101, make your journey a quest for more than mere scenery. Stop at this humble temple of the sea. It’s more than a meal; it’s an odyssey of the palate, a deep dive into the abyss of flavor where the smoked salmon might not only change your meal but alter your very concept of what...
Read moreSo I have been going to the Oregon coast for years. And I have supported locals always. But today I will no longer be going to Barnacle Bill’s. Today I stopped on the way out of town. The young guy that was there was super nice. I inquired about cost of Dungeness crab that was already out of shell. They told me a half pound was 18 dollars. And I agreed to that. I went to get money out of the atm (since they are cash only). Once returning there was another man that was taking care of my order. I only got 1/2 pound of crab and 3 pieces of salmon jerk. I took out 40 dollars. When he charged me it came out of o 37 dollars. I was completely over charge! They charged me $28.00 dollars for a half a pound of crab when I was told that it would be $18.00. The 3 sticks of salmon for $3.00 dollars each.
When I inquired about the cost he made me it out that I wasn’t understanding the calculation. Not trying to cause a scene I simple said ok. But left feeling ripped off and lied too! You will never get my money or support again!
This is what 28 dollars of crab looks like. I could have got a whole crab...
Read moreHis face has some of the best local seafood selection. It is family owned. I always get the black cod when they have it available. when I cook it up it is the perfect butterfish. The jerky comes in all types of varieties. The smoked salmon is done really well. it's not too sweet and it's not too salty. I haven't tried the dip there but I did make my own version of the smoked salmon dip by just adding cream cheese with a splash of lemon juice and it turned out lovely. this place is cash only! they have an ATM next to it that you can pull money out. Just know I believe the fee was $2.50. when I'm at this section of the coast I always stopped to at least see what the selection is. I have never been disappointed in anything that I got in there. The freshness is obvious. sometimes the pricing can be a little high, but that is to be expected because they support the local fishing community. I saw that there was salmon there during the Springer season. however, this was previously frozen salmon that was not...
