UPDATE: Had to come back and take away some stars because we went to the restaurant today and the waiter made a mistake with our order. It wouldn’t have been a problem if he didn’t try to argue with us that he didn’t get our order wrong. He didn’t write anything down when he took our order to begin with (which isn’t a deal breaker, we’ve gone to plenty of restaurants where they don’t write things dwn and memorize it) BUT…… when we say hey this is wrong, this is not what we asked for. Instead of apologizing to us…..he begins to argue and he was rude. This is unfortunate because we love coming here. The food is amazing and we love the atmosphere, the ambience. They need to do better with the service here honestly! That was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional!!! I had to diffuse the situation by just saying he misunderstood what we said and it’s ok…. He finally walked away from our table. That’s disheartening!!!! Anyway, our food was great as usual. I’ve seen reviews here speaking about the service being bad or a problem. I concur. This place was AMAZING!!!! It was our first time and we truly enjoyed it. The food is top tier, service was great and atmosphere 1000!!!! You won’t be disappointed visiting El Patron Cantina….Come with your dancing shoes. Lol!!!! šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ (Chicken Tortilla Soup and Chips and Guacamole).

After reading the mixed reviews, I decided to give this place a try. When I walked in, the hostess told me it was open seating and that I could sit wherever I wanted. When I sat down, one of the waitresses walked past my table, no acknowledgment at all. About five minutes later she comes back to bring me water. She doesn’t ask me what I would like to order, just drops off the plastic cup of water and leaves. The menu is on the QR code that is on the table. Finally after waiting another almost 5 minutes, I make eye contact with a woman working behind the bar. She comes over and take my order, but has an attitude as if she didn’t want to be at work. My food was brought fast and it was hot. The food is decent, I’ve had better for a lower price (but it is a downtown restaurant, so I get it). The beans were really salty, but everything else was fine. I had no refill on my soda and was not asked if I wanted a refill or anything else. I was thinking about dessert and a drink after my meal, but the customer service was so horrible that I just wanted to get out of there. Food wasn’t that bad, but the customer service needs just a little improvement.

Disappointing Experience - Not Worth the Price

I had high hopes for El Patron Cantina, but my visit was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the environment was awful—overwhelmingly loud and chaotic. To make matters worse, the restaurant smelled like sewer, which immediately killed any appetite I had. The restrooms were disgusting, with dirty floors and no paper towels in sight. It was clear that cleanliness isn’t a priority here.

As for the food, the pricing is absolutely unjustifiable. I ordered the beef enchiladas, which cost a staggering $27, and the portion size was ridiculously small. The food itself was far from impressive—the red sauce was mediocre, the meat was slightly dry, and the cheese had an odd pizza mozzarella taste that felt completely out of place. To top it off, the Mexican Flan on the dessert menu is priced at an outrageous $12—absolutely not worth it.

The service was equally underwhelming. My coke was forgotten and had to be requested again, and I didn’t even bother asking for the side of sour cream I had initially requested because of the poor attention to detail. Our server was nowhere to be found, and the staff seemed more entertained by chatting with each other than actually tending to customers. Another employee (not our server) did check in on us once, but it didn’t make up for the fact that we had to ask for the check after waiting far too long.

If you’re considering dining here, save yourself the trouble and just go to "Mama Por Dios," which is only a block away. The prices are similar, but the food is far more flavorful, the service is impeccable, and the overall experience is leagues better.

El Patron Cantina needs to seriously improve both its food quality and service if it hopes to justify its pricing and keep customers coming back. As it stands, I won’t...

Came here the day after May 5th for the first time for the happy hour drinks. When I first walked in nobody was there to greet me. So I make my way to the bar and the bartender doesn’t acknowledge me. Also the bar was dirty so I find a set facing the entrance door. Took the waitress over 15 mins to come over to my table. Mind you the place had 3 tables occupied they were not busy at all. Music is blasting can’t talk to my friend. The menu that’s online has no pictures šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø. It’s 2023 why no pictures idk. And they didn’t have a paper menu šŸ‘€. Oh you have to order the chips and salsa or guacamole. Nothing here is complementary. Waited over 15 mins for chips and guacamole. But had to be rude and ask out loud like how long does chips and guacamole take to come out. Then they realize their ticket machine was malfunctioning šŸ‘€. I’m not sure why they are not working as a team. The bartender was staring at me the whole time. She can see I didn’t have my chips but didn’t ask the waitress. Then the bartender friends walk in the door and she greets them with a smile. Walks from behind the bar and gives hugs. The guy that’s there idk what his job was but I don’t want to eat no where and the workers pants are sagging šŸ‘€. Most people don’t care about customer service but I do. Oh I ordered the Cali burrito with the fries on the side. The chicken was old and you can taste it. The only thing that was cool was walking to...
