I would love to give this place 5 stars because most of my trips there are pleasant. Its 1/4 mile from my apartment, so its super convenient and the smoothies and bowls are delicious. A trip last week turned out to be bad because my bowl was made incorrectly, but they fixed it with no issue. This mornings trip however has me really frustrated. I placed an online order for Tropical Mango Acai bowl, picked it up, and walked back home. Once I got home I realized there was no mango topping on it. No problem, i put my sneakers back on and walked back to Robeks so they could fix it. There was a young man at the register and I explained to him what happened, and the young lady that made my bowl turned around and said the mango is mixed inside and turned back around to finish making drinks. This is the only bowl that I ever order from there, so I know that there should also be mango on top. I sensed an attitude from her, so I asked the guy if he could fix it. He said to the young lady "should I make another bowl", and she said "just add mango to it". No problem, I did not come for a new bowl, I just wanted the ingredients that belong in the bowl that I paid for- however, making a new bowl would have been above and beyond in customer service, but I am learning that I should not expect that here. I was completely turned off by her attitude so I asked the guy if I was being unreasonable and if he felt that the customer service I received was fair. He shrugged, afraid to say anything against his coworker, and I then explained to her that I came in with a problem that could have been easily resolved, but her lack of customer service and abundance of attitude turned this into unpleasant event. She then turned her back while I was talking and began working again as if I was not there, and I just left. I am huge on customer service, I tip whenever its allowed, and I frequent places where the people are friendly - even if the prices and product aren't the best, and this was just bad service all the way around. From the male employee who knew the female employees attitude was uncalled for but was afraid to say anything, to the lack of ownership by the female employee, I am completely turned off. Its obvious the employees did not care this morning, so I needed to share this with someone because I am actually very upset and needed to vent. Thanks for reading.
Update: The owner called moments after my review was written to Robeks site, to apologize. Super nice guy. Offered me a free beverage and assured me that the employees will be trained based on the mishandling of this situation. Read moreRobeks was the first place I ever had an acai bowl so I am pretty biased because I am hooked on them. If you want to feel good and energetic then I recommend you try one. This is a new location and I was waiting for months for them to open. The owner was there when I went and he was very rude and nasty. His staff was on pins and needles and jumpy and jittery because of him. I hate bosses and management like him. This led to me being overcharged , I guess they have to make up for the high rent somehow. I got my first peanut butter protein shake and it was pretty thick and not so tasty But had 28 grams of protein so I didn't care. If you can drink shots of tequila then you can drink anything from here and it's Healthy for you. I like the other locations much better than this one even though it is newer and cleaner....I just don't support nasty franchise owners. There's too many acai spots for bad treatment and overpriced fruit drinks. Read moreOn 11/17 at approx. 0915, The server Jennifer (she stated, unsure but has two toned-hair) dismissed and ignored my presence for pickup of my pre-ordered smoothie in the pickup area. I understand that she is the only employee working at the time. Several people entered as well as a few waiting, yet every pickup order was addressed upon entering afterwards. After waiting over 10 min, Jennifer served and orchestrated over 5 drinks, she then asks me my name for the pickup, which was in the freezer ready the entire time. I asked her, why did she ignore my original request for pick up after serving the other pickups, her response was "She's busy". I told her I know the owner wouldn't enjoy hearing my experience, she commented "She knows him too" sarcastically.
Commenting negatively on reviews isn't common, customer service is priority for me where I'm spending money. I've visited this location on several occasions and it's a hit or miss with the service, quality and cleaniliness this definitely...
