A Disappointing Decline in Service
I’ve been supporting this establishment since it opened because I genuinely believe in the concept. The ambiance, when done right, is unmatched—this place can be a real vibe. But sadly, what keeps bringing it down is the inconsistent, frustrating, and at times outright rude customer service.
My recent experience was the tipping point.
After an event, my friends and I decided to stop by for pizza and drinks. The venue was visibly half-empty, so we expected a quick seating. Instead, we were told there would be a 45-minute wait. Naturally, we asked why—and were met with unnecessary attitude from the front-of-house staff. It felt like asking a basic question was a personal offense.
It’s unfortunate because the hostesses are clearly chosen for their looks—but professionalism and hospitality matter far more in this industry. Several of the rotating hosts seem to lack even the most basic training in customer interaction.
Still, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, until I spoke with the manager. That interaction made it abundantly clear the issue isn’t just the staff—it’s the leadership. When I asked about the wait, the manager flatly stated that all walk-ins would be delayed 45 minutes, regardless of how empty the restaurant is. No effort to understand, no attempt to accommodate—just a pompous attitude backed by bad policy.
This isn’t just bad service. It’s a recipe for failure.
I want this business to succeed. I really do. But if management continues to treat customers as inconveniences rather than guests, they’re going to push loyal patrons like myself—and many others—away for good.
Let’s be real: This isn’t a reservation-only, high-end destination (yet). It’s a promising local spot with good food and a great vibe—when run right. But the current approach to service simply doesn’t align with that potential.
Final Thought
If the owners see this: please, take this seriously. You have something special here, but it’s slipping. Train your staff. Hold your managers accountable. Start valuing the customers who want to see you win.
Because right now, you’re making it really hard to keep...
Read moreI am driving away from DTLA Zaya as I write this and seriously during BHM with a majority staff of color; I say this in the kindest way; SIMPLY DO BETTER.
I have been wanting to come here for a few weeks and I finally get to attend. From the start the visit was a disaster BUT I will say Candice the manager saved the visit because I was about to walk out with my husband after only being there for about 20-30 mins. The band also was practicing the whole time 5-630pm then just completely left. What’s the point of having the band there? People were leaving left and right complaining around us as well mind you. The vibe was giving deception compared to IG.
In that time, I was served water glasses with lipstick still on the rim from the previous customer, an order that wasn’t mine, no silverware placed, and waiting on service from a waitress who must have been Houdini because she kept disappearing! My husband had to get up at one point to get napkins from the bar because the waitress never returned. After 20 mins I was served something I didn’t order and was fed up at this point. I got up to tell the other kind waitress who was watching this disaster the WHOLE TIME that we just wanted the check at this point so we could leave.
Pretty much immediately Candice, the manager saved the visit by comping our meals and drinks. Not completely… as the second round was on us, which I understand, it is a business. So no worries about that.
I appreciate the comeback but a LOT of kinks need to be worked out. Once resolved I believe this would be a great establishment.
Lastly, for those wondering on price point. LITERALLY before the comp the check was $108 for two medium size wood fire pizzas & two cocktails. Paid $50 for one cocktail and one pizza. With all that said, have your pockets ready!

Emilio the DJ set the vibe before the band started and he laid down some killer music as well.
From the moment you walk in the front with the security it’s a cool vibe.
