The place feels very modern and somehow managed to remind me of the ambiance of restaurants I have visited during my travels through Spain.Unfortunately that is where the similarities stopped.
In Spain I love to drink a vermouth before or with diner. Some places even make their own vermouths and proudly promote it! Here the waiter struggled with me asking for one. As if he had never heard of it. It took three trips to the bar and back to eventually get one.
I ordered pan con tomate. I have that literally everyday for breakfast while there. So simple, so good. Pan de cristal, tomatoes, and good olive oil. Not here... Tiny amount of tomato, dense unappetizing bread, and no olive oil. Even after asking for some, and being told 'right away', it never arrived.
Finally, I had chosen to eat the Parrillada de verduras de estación (grilled seasonal vegetables, something usually very fresh and delicious in Spain everytime I order it) only to be told 'they did not have it'. I was among the early diners. How is this possible? Settled on the recommendation from the waiter of the bacalao ala vizcaína. It was 'meh', especially for a dish that is not done on the spot. It can only be done way ahead of time if you are to develop the flavors accordingly.
Too bad had high hopes and being greeted by two Spaniards at the door made me hope I would be in for a treat. Hope they improve it could be...
Read more2 stars, because service and attention from the waitress and hostess were very good!!
FOOD: We ordered "cochinillo" and half of it was undercook and almost raw. We told the waitress to let the chef know (if you can call him chef) about it...and his or her answer (because we never saw the chef) was..."sometimes customers complaint that cochinillo is overcooked" Well...I don't care about other customers, I care about me and that is the reason that you serve it way undercooked. Last but not least, we ordered the "Torrijas" for dessert. The "torrijas" were cold. Served directly from the fridge. We told them that it is supposed to be served hot not cold, the answer we received was "the torrija is served cold with the ice cream". Haha! Tell me...where in Spain they serve you a COLD Torrija!!! Finally, we got our check and not even and apology for the food they served wrong. For the price they are charging everything should have been on the spot. By the way, we were 4 Spaniards from Spain, and the answers we got from the "chef" were outrageous to hear...as a result we are definitely not coming back...and not recommending this place to any of our Spaniards friends. Note: Don't bother to reply that we should come back and that you'll do better and all that stuff...you had your chance and you treated us like fools. Good luck with your...
