Horribly negative experience! Not only was the food greasy, unauthentic, and the chef sitting around and doing nothing, they decided to try and charge me $18.75 for a $12.99 vegetable fried rice due to special taxes they collect as stated by the young female counter help. Obviously, this is illegal and corrupt. FTX style corruption here. Read further…
I ordered vegetable fried rice to go and the female counter help said it would be 10 minutes to pick it up. I arrived on time. They were just sitting there with and empty restaurant without my food prepared. They started making it when I arrived which was a red flag to begin with.
Then the counter help woman charges me $18.50 for the meal. I show her the menu and say why are you trying to take advantage of me, is it due to my accent?
The first lie is when she claims that's the price. I proceed to show her the menu sitting right in front of her that clearly states the meal is $12.99.
The second lie begins by her saying she gave me a discount. The discount was not applied to my mean and the discount clearly states 15 percent off of $12.99. So the plot unfolds and I show her that 15 percent of 12.99 is never going to be $18.50, but rather it is approximately $1.95 off of the listed price of $12.99.
She continues to argue with a face of display akin to someone that just ate 3 lemons, that there is a special tax that I have to pay that totals 25 percent more on my take out order. I am just baffled at this point. So I let her know, I've been a local guide on Google for 10 years and showed her the menu displaying the price right in front of her. I just look straight into her eyes and ask her "who are you kidding?" She continues her disgruntled behavior in order to try and hide her lie that she is now caught in with the evidence in hand.
I had to insist on getting the properly owed change from the $12.99+tax meal after handing her a $20 and getting back $1.50. If she would have been honest and gave me the coupon that is presented on their menu,, the bill would have been $11.04 instead of their secretly imposed 25 percent tax. I refused to leave without my proper change. I awaited for my honest change from the $12.99 just to get out of this horrible restaurant. Note:. If treated honestly, the bill should have been adjusted for 15% off and would have been $11.04 plus tax.
I then see that due to me paying cash she doesn't put the payment through the register as a sale and does not provide me with a receipt. Avoiding paying sales tax on cash receipts hurts our economy. Time to be reported!
So now I unfortunately have to inform every visitor looking for authentic Chinese food that's made by honest business owners not to eat here.
The food was greasy (see pic), the portion was way undersize, and the wok was way to cold to combine the ingredients properly. A hot wok with the proper amount of oil will never make a dish as greasy as this. The chef's wok skills were unsatisfactory to say the least.
I am formally trained by Qiao Ng, a famous NYC Chinatown wok master. If you think this food is good, you've been eating poorly made Chinese for way too long.
I have reported them to the 1. Florida Department of Business and Regulations, 2. The Better Business Bureau, and 3. The Internal Revenue Service.
Between tax fraud and undermining me as a customer, this place needs an overhaul. I hope they learn that treating customers in this manner just isn't worth it. Trying to take advantage of a man with a New York accent was just foolish on their part.
If you are a Spanish speaking local, I would assume they treat you differently. If you don't want an overcharged and fraudulent taxed meal, eat Chinese food elsewhere because you will be taken advantage of. Check your bill carefully for hidden taxes equalling 25 percent or higher on top of the state sales tax they collect!
The location is horrible as well. Walk down this dirty corridor, for way too many steps, inside a building that has a roach laden feel...
Read morefive stars? makes me think that they are writing their own reviews. my two cents:
started with the egg drop soup, which was very good. thick, flavorful, and i couldn't detect even a hint of corn starch. there was a subtle undertone of heat -- not usual in egg drop soup -- which is perhaps their unique take, and exactly the kind of innovative tweak that one hopes to find in a local ethnic restaurant with a skilled chef.
unfortunately, the rest of the meal was less successful. the ginger broccoli chicken was just meh. it was dominated by a thick, undistinguished brown sauce. nothing original here, it could have come from any of the mediocre, brooklyn-american chinese places in downtown. it wasn't affirmatively bad, but not something i would be inclined to order again.
the pad thai noodles were. . . interesting. the dish was not standard issue, more heavily spiced than is usual. i hesitate to be overly critical since it simply wasn't to my taste and other customers may find it more to their liking. still, not a choice that i would repeat.
more objectionable is the amount of salt that they use. the food was not exceptionally salty to taste, but the telltale thirst that followed the meal -- and persisted for a few hours -- was telling (there is at least one other review which also mentions the excessive use of salt).
on the positive side, portion sizes were generous. service was friendly and efficient. prices were not unreasonable. i will give them another try since the soup was so good and suggests that different menu choices might have produced a better result. still, the overall impression was mixed and not worthy of a strong...
Read moreNot true Asian food. Whoever thinks this is Chinese food is either an absolute fool or an inexperienced eater. It is that simple. This is clearly just another bad experimental Miami joke restaurant to fool locals and tourists into thinking this is something special.
It is not. I ordered from here 2 times. First time, they give me some trash portion of garbage noodles that was nothing less than food for the man sitting in urine right outside their front door.
Hidden people say? Really? If that is hidden, you really need and should get out and travel more. Pathetic! Whoever chooses to eat here is out of their mind. Go to whole foods buy noodles and 30 cents of broccoli and your whole meal with soy sauce will be $2.25. Please stop spending money at this place.
Staff is rude, ordering online is dismal at best. When questioned about their ingredients, they actually think you can't see what the chef is using. This establishment, it's employees and the fake reviews are just a mirage for an experienced Asian cuisine master. Those who know this is not even worth your time and space are wise. Those who lie for their reviews, be prepared to experience what honest people have to say about this business.
I have sent major reviewers here, all their posts are coming to your maps page. How dare you question us. We are the public and you are just a business. It's Miami, you are a dime a dozen.
Don't worry about all the roaches, they taste just fine in their peanut sauce. You'll love it...
