Yesterday was the first time I visited this place since Chili's closed and this place opened. Came to catch the second half of the Warriors game and grab some food and drinks, and my goodness, service was beyond awful! First, we walk in to an empty host stand.. no big deal, but after standing for at least 7 minutes and not being acknowledged by the waitress that walked past us and the bartenders just hanging out looking directly at us, we found an empty spot at the bar and took a seat. Surprisingly this brought attention to the waitress in the bar area to grab us some menus and water. Another waitress came by and took our drink order and we stated me needed a bit more time to look over the menu. The initial waitress came back to take our order, we asked for more time. She came back with the beer but never visited our table again. For reference, this was around the end of the 3rd quarter, beginning of the 4th. She walked past our table 4 times without addressing us or looking up at all. There were multiple times all the wait staff was chilling watching the game (insane). Needless to say, by the time we finally got her attention is was the end of the 4th quarter (20 minutes being ignored). We asked for the check. She's lucky my bf is a kind human and gave her a tip.
I have no idea what standards the management is setting in this place but the service did not exist! There were plenty of worker, they had no sense of urgency whatsoever.
We already have no real good places to eat out in Milpitas and Straw Hat just adds to the list of...
Read moreDecided to check this place out as it was close to the hotel and a break from all of the excellent different Asian food I've tried in the area. I ordered takeout and got the pastrami hot hat sandwich with a side of fries, and added a side salad with ranch to the order. I arrived right at the time the system said my order would be ready, but had to wait another 5 minutes or so. The hostess/bartender was very pleasant and helpful and let me know the order was coming out of the oven. A few minutes later, she handed me my order and I noticed it was bagged up very nicely. Upon opening the bag at my hotel, I found every thing I ordered to be perfectly packed, with the hot food still hot and the salad cold and crisp. The sandwich was excellent, with lots of pastrami and melted (and still hot) cheese. The fries were still hot and super crispy, just like I like them. The side salad was reminiscent of old school Pizza Inn or something, and was simple yet fresh. For $17 including tax and tip, it was one of the better meals I have had in Milpitas. I guess I'll have to try...
Read moreI recently stopped by Straw Hat Pizza Grille in Milpitas, and I have to say—it completely exceeded my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome, and the staff was super friendly and attentive.
I ordered a combo pizza, and wow—it was absolutely delicious! The crust had the perfect crunch, the toppings were fresh and generously loaded, and the sauce had just the right balance of flavor. I also tried their garlic twists, and they were addictively good.
What really stood out to me was the atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or even bring the family. You can tell the team here really cares about the quality of their food and the experience they provide.
If you’re in Milpitas and craving some seriously good pizza, I highly recommend checking this place out. I’ll definitely be coming back for...
