I loved SportClub for quick meetings and after work happy hours which is why I gave 2 stars, not 1... my coworkers however, will never return.
We were the only patrons in the bar from 3-5pm. Later joined by approximately 8-10 colleagues. All whom understand social distancing measures as we’ve been working downtown for 3 months in the office and with our clients as we all work in commercial real estate advising clients on the matter.
We were consistently and excessively “mask shamed”. We all had masks as we entered. We wore our masks in the bathroom (I only witnessed 1 coworker who forgot it on his way to the restroom once in the 4 hours we were there. And was shamed on the way back to the table!) That is a pretty good win rate as far as I’m concerned, considering we were with an older generation who HATE the mask mandates, they still abided, with a single slip up (maybe two that I might’ve missed while conversing).
We weren’t close to other patrons. But when I would get up and start walking and fumble to put my mask on at the same time I was constantly reminded in a condescending tone by the manager, and it only got worse as the night went on. Apparently, I was leaning on a table that I was not allowed to lean on (no signage and the table is essentially a 2x6). It was borderline harassment, and we were racking up a very solid tab over our time, as the bartenders can likely attest, since they were great the entire time! It was solely the manager’s constant pestering that made it a poor experience.
As I mentioned, I’m all for social distancing. However, what is more important to me and should be to your business is common courtesy. Masks are new for everyone. I frequent downtown bars and restaurants, so it’s easy for me, not as easy for older people who live in areas with much more lenient guidelines. All it takes is courtesy and professionalism. “Excuse me sir, we really need you to wear a mask to make sure we are abiding by the state mandate. Thank you for understanding.” And then give guests the opportunity. Hospitality businesses require patience, acceptance, and kindness. I do not want to see more bars close! Managers should be doing what they can to keep people in the door! We likely would’ve stayed longer!
We left with a bad taste in our mouth, and as I mentioned, my coworkers told me they no longer want to meet here, which is...
Read moreThere are lots of issues going on. Starting with the service the waitress took our drink order fairly quick but then disappeared for 20 minutes before asking if we wanted food while the place was less than half full. They were out of some of the food we tried to order. Also she didnt write down our order causing her to have to come back and ask what we wanted again. When the food came out it did taste pretty good but one person ordered fish tacos and because it wasnt written down they got the wrong thing. That night there was a special for $5 off of a pitcher of beer. We ordered 3, one of them was a pitcher of blue moon. When we got the bill it was $28 dollars, which is not only more than double the price Ive seen it anywhere else, it also didnt have the discount. After a while the waitress brought out a second receipt with a correction that included a discount for 2 pitchers. After asking if the price was correct for the pitchers she brought out a third receipt. As a recommendation to the restaurant, ordering food shouldnt be that much of a hassle and the drinks shouldnt be...
Read moreThis place was not it for me. I went with coworkers during March Madness. I'd say maybe that was the reason for poor service, but others in my group had perfectly fine service. First Mishap - it took 25 minutes and a reminder for the waitress to bring me my drink. Then, after another 15 minutes, she brings me a different drink and indicates they're out of what I ordered. Didn't even ask what else I actually might have wanted. Second Mishap - 15 minutes after my coworkers' food arrived, the waitress returned with the wrong burger. 😑 So I waited another 20 minutes for the correct burger. The burger wasn't even warm when it arrived at my table or all that tasty. The tots tasted like grease. Third Mishap - I ordered cheesecake for dessert and was brought cheese curds. I will admit the cheesecake, only it arrived, was delicious!
This is not somewhere I'd...
