Yesterday on July 30, 2023 at approximately 8:34, me and one other friend girl came to Eddie V’s to enjoy a quick dinner and drink.

We were aware of the near closing time, however were informed that the restaurant was still open.

We went to sit at the bar and the entire back half of the bar was aligned with liquor bottles. It was very clear that the bar did not want any further guest, being that the bar was closed off for access.

We still sat down. The bartender who approached us was a female, of white race, and had blonde highlights. She failed to introduce herself by name. She immediately stated “ you are not really supposed to sit here where the liquors bottle are, because we are preparing for our nightly inventory”. She still however, proceeded to remove enough bottles away so that she could reach our area. She then set out plate settings. After our plate settings were set, I removed the white linen from the bar top and placed it in my lap. The young lady then replied to me “you’re not supposed to use that linen, you’re supposed to use the black one”. I responded, I don’t mind because they are both linens. She responded, “ yeah, but that is how the food runners know where to put your food”. I replied, “ if the food runners need linens to teach them where to put plates, they need to be retrained”. She gave me a smirk and slight but silent, agreement . I stated “I am just trying to enjoy me dining experience, without you telling me how to eat”

When our food came out, I made a comment to my friend, “ I see they know where to put the food without a white linen”. This comment was nothing but a pure observation and confirmation that the previous comment the young lady made was not true, furthermore, unwarranted.

In response to that statement, the bartender felt the need to justify her actions. She replied “I am just doing what I am trained to do”. I asked , “ and what exactly are you trained to do”? She replied, “ to put white linens on the bar top”. I replied, “exactly, you are trained to put the white lines down, not instruct and shame someone for their usage and/or lack there of. This conversation became difficult as the bartender insisted she did nothing wrong. I expressed to her that comment was offensive and made me feel belittled.

After our conversation, my appetite was completely ruined and I asked for my bill. I proceeded to speak with management who informed me they were informed of one side of the story. Blake was the manager I spoke with. He assured me her statement was inappropriate and should have not been said. I truly feel this comment would not have been made to me if I were not a black woman. I am not sure if the combination of nearing closing and me being black made this young lady confident enough to abuse her power to impose personal opinions, but this is completely unprofessional.

My previous experience in fine dining solidified my disagreement with her statement. I knew that was not something she was to tell me.

Hopefully no other patron will experience such discomfort in their dining experience...

Hostess: 5 stars We were greeted by a friendly hostess when we walked in.

Ambiance: 5 stars Very nice atmosphere. Reminded me of Mastros with lots of teal accents downstairs. Upstairs had nice views of Broadway. Walking up the steps, there was nice glass with bottles of wine. Another hostess desk was upstairs. When we sat at our table, we noticed several rose petals on the table with a envelope that said “Happy Anniversary”. There was also a hand written notice inside. Music was played at a loud enough volume you could hear it but not loud enough to interrupt your conversation.

Waiter: 5 stars Super friendly & very attentive. When he first approached, he addressed our table by our last name, a very nice personal touch. The only one suggestion would be to inquire if we wanted drink refills.

Drinks: 5 stars The wine was good and not overpriced. My smoked old fashion had a great presentation but it had just a bit too much bitters and simple syrup. The chocolate bitters were an exceptional touch. If you like sweet, then you’ll love this smoked old fashion. I let my ice cube melt to let it dilute some of the sweetness and it came out perfect.

Bread: 5 stars Warm, fresh, tasty and soft.

Yellowtail Sashimi: 5 star Absolutely delicious. Tasted fresh and had great flavor. One of the best Yellowtail dishes I’ve had.

Caesar Salad: 4 stars Nice salad, very light, but tasted more like a vinaigrette dressing. The croutons were great but there were only a few in the salad.

Sautéed Spinach: 1 star The spinach tasted like an entire cup of salt was mixed in. We both spit the spinach out immediately. I’m not sure if this was a one-off thing or if this is their normal. If you love salt, this may be a dish you’d like. We noticed there were onions in the dish although that was not mentioned on the menu.

10 oz Filet: 4 stars This was an average steak for a steak house. I was hoping for something better based on all the high reviews.

Chilean Sea Bass: 4 stars Even though it was flaky, the texture was more tough like Halibut. The soy broth was moderately salty. The fish itself did not have much flavor.

Au Gratin Cheddar Potatoes: 4.5 stars Potatoes were cooked well, had plenty of cheese. The top layer of cheese was baked to a golden crisp. Our only preference would have been thinner...

We had initially snagged a reservation for the bar, but upon our arrival, the hostess surprised us by seating us upstairs. And let me tell you, this place is nothing short of breathtaking. From the moment you step foot into the restaurant, your eyes are immediately drawn to the mesmerizing bar that commands attention with its sheer elegance.

As you begin to explore further, you'll find that the entire establishment is adorned with a touch of class and beauty. The wines are showcased impeccably within a transparent glass case that spans the height of both floors.

Climbing the staircase to the second floor is an experience in itself, as your gaze is drawn to the fine wines from all corners of the world, hinting at the culinary journey ahead. The menus, oh, the menus! They are a testament to the commitment to excellence here – the wine list, the cocktail selection, and the food menu are nothing short of impressive.

One member of our party has a gluten sensitivity, and to our delight, they provided a dedicated menu with a plethora of gluten-free options. It was a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening.

Now, let's talk about the libations. The cocktails and wines were masterfully crafted, and the wine we selected was not only presented elegantly but also proved to be a perfect accompaniment to our perfectly cooked ribeye. In fact, that ribeye deserves a spot in my top 5 list of restaurant steaks.

We also ventured into the chef's special, the swordfish, and it was an ethereal experience. It quite literally melted in our mouths. And how could I forget the crab cake appetizer? It's safe to say that I've never experienced a better crab cake.

Every dish was a revelation of flavor and artistry. The evening was a symphony of tastes, and it all came together to create the perfect backdrop for a birthday celebration with the people I hold dear. It's a rare and special feeling when everything aligns so beautifully – a flawless evening in a gorgeous setting with the company of loved ones. It simply doesn't get any...

📍Day 10 - 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒇𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 You can’t get quite passed a place like Eddie V’s. Upscale but with a tinge of sophistication you don’t get often from restaurants. The only place i’ve ever felt like this was in New York at Keens Steakhouse. Our host, gracious as can be. We were served bread and butter - sadly, it was not accompanied with a butter knife. Who cares right? Well, I DO. When one decides to spend nearly $100/head, I would, by all means, expect the best. We then ordered some Oysters for our appetizers, which of course was as fresh and delicious as can be - buttery and salty, complimented by the citrus. We also ordered the Lobster Bisque. It was delicate and the broth was not artificial. Surprisingly, it lacked the saltiness I expected from a lobster’s bisque which I greatly appreciated. It wasn’t as thick nor as creamy but had a great consistency to it. For our main entree my husband had Bacon Wrapped Filet Medallions “Oscar Style” w/ a side of Cold Water Lobster, Grilled Asparagus and topped w/ Béarnaise. I, meanwhile, ordered the 18oz USDA Prime Bone-in New York Strip and a side of Butter Poached Lobster Mashed Potatoes. While I enjoy a good steak and our entrees were cooked to utmost perfection, the seafood dishes, namely the Lobster Bisque and the Butter Poached Lobster Mashed Potatoes outshined them all. It was not surprising since the Restaurant is literally called 𝑬𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒆 𝑽'𝒔 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒅. Overall, this restaurant was not as stuffy nor was it overwhelming. Each dish was calculated in terms of taste, it shines where it should and is subtle where it needs to be, none of which were overpowering one or the other.

We had a pretty unique experience here. We had late reservations but popped in to see if we could be accommodated a few hours ahead of time. The host informed that they were fully booked on reservations and our best bet would be to wait for openings at the bar as they were full service but first come first serve. I’ll be honest, it was uncomfortable especially for a high end establishment such as this. We stood off to the side as we watched people literally stalk and hover over people dining at the bar. This seemed to be the only way to get a seat and more than twice the seats we were going for were aggressively snatched by more determined diners. Another lady who was waiting struck up a conversation with me after witnessing our intended seats taken and mentioned she didn’t have reservations but was offered the chance to put her name on the list. She then remarked that I would likely be called soon since I had been waiting far longer than her. It confused me since the host did not offer me the opportunity to be added to the list. Within a few minutes she was called to a table and kindly invited my boyfriend and I to join her husband and herself. I honestly don’t know how much longer I would’ve waited at the bar but it was disappointing that the host didn’t offer me the walk-in option. The dinner itself was enjoyable, the server was kind and knowledgeable, and conversation was great with our new friends. I understand the restaurant location is prime and they’ll never run out of business but my experience makes me doubtful I’ll patronize Eddie V’s in the future.
