SUMMARY. Very cool spot. Came here over the holidays before a concert at the Ryman. Both drinks and food were on point. Cozy upscale ambience. Definitely recommend.
RESERVATION. We walked in around 6pm on a Monday. Not sure if they take reservations, but it's a small place. If you'll be coming during high-traffic hours, a reservation would definitely be worth looking into if they offer them.
AMBIENCE. The place is relatively small, but it's very nice. I would describe the ambience as upscale cozy. Chic diner meets high end cocktail bar. We sat at the bar, and it was definitely one of the quieter spots I've been to lately which made for a nice relaxing vibe. It was during the holidays, and the Christmas decor made for an even homier feel.
LOCATION. Located downtown on 7th in between Commerce and Broadway at the Holston House.
QUALITY. The quality was VERY good. I got an old fashioned that was perfect, and the presentation matched the drink quality. Clear ice cubes are purchased from outside vendors and stamped before being served. For dinner, I ordered the aioli burger, which was phenomenal.
SERVICE. Service was perfect. It was not crowded, and the bartender was at the top of his game. He was nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and expeditious. We were very pleased!
VALUE. This place is expensive, but that should be expected. Tenn is located downtown in a Hyatt-owned hotel, so I definitely had no expectation of it being cheap. Still, the ambience, service, and food/drink quality were exquisite, so I was happy to pay. Overall, I would say the price was on par with my expectation going in.
TAKEAWAYS. AWESOME place for quick bites and great drinks downtown. Highly...
Read moreIf I could give this zero stars I would. I booked tickets for their Halloween themed bar called Wonky Bar. If you go Thursday - Saturday you have no choice but to pay $30 PER PERSON for a reservation. The reservation was supposed to include a “show” and a wonka bar with a chance of winning a golden ticket - some sort of prize to the restaurant. It didn’t even include a drink. The overly sweet cocktails were $15 or more a piece, and there were only 3 wildly overpriced food options - cheap charcuterie on a novelty ferris wheel, greasy sausage rolls and fries, and an overpriced grilled cheese sandwich. The “show” was nothing more than an obnoxious magician, who did a 10 minute opening act, then was supposed to walk around to each table and give some sort of a private show. Which only included petty card tricks. Well my group and I were there for over an hour, and the magician didn’t come by our table at all. He spent all his time on just one side of the room, and could care less about the other side of the room. The bar was also so poorly decorated - the staircase was more decorated than the inside. Inside there was essentially only a low cost vent pipe with a printed photo of Augustus Gloop, and some homegoods apothecary jars with candy. The Dream Hotel’s Candy Factory Bar - which is FREE - is a much better alternative - far more innovative and they are not forcing anyone to pay for a reservation. For $30 a person, I expected so much more. I basically paid $30 a person for a cheap sub-par chocolate bar. This place should be ashamed of themselves - the Wonky Bar is nothing but a shameless cash grab. Don’t waste your time or your hard...
Read moreTea with Santa was such a weird experience. The hotel was decorated and the lobby was beautiful so my family was excited for Tea with Santa at the restaurant. When we went down to the restaurant it was a basement/diner vibe. Dark and dingy. The wait staff was nice enough but not great at their jobs to be honest, so don’t go for good service. Then Santa came out and he said a few cute things to the kids and the food came so he left. The food was terrible. It had for sure been prepared and left out all day and was gross by the time we got it. All of the “hot” drinks we got were lukewarm at best. There were two tea trays brought out for 8 people … if the food had been good and we actually wanted to eat it, there wouldn’t have been nearly enough! Then Santa came back and was talking to my sister’s kids across the table. He stopped me mid conversation with my daughter and waved his hand to tell me I should be taking pictures of him speaking to my nieces instead. It was odd and a bit pushy. Then we asked for extra tea and were told no, that we were allotted one drink each, even when we offered to pay more. Then we asked for clean cups to share the tea we already had and were told no, that we were allotted only one cup each. Needless to say we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. When we left, the manager came running out telling my sister she left without paying, even though her CC had been charged before we even arrived at the restaurant! The whole experience was cheap and tacky. Save your money … too many other good places to go...
