Double, Better yet TRIPLE check your bill. If the number doesn't make sense, they probably over charged you. The waitresses write very sloppy as a sleezy tactic to overcharge customers. Don't be hesitant to ask them to explain each item on the bill and the price breakdown. The server charged us for an entree we didn't even order then proceeded to say she made a mistake because she was in a rush. She then told me she wrote down my original order then I "changed my mind" so she wrote down a different entree. How is she blaming ME for "changing my mind" when all I did was order the entree and an add-on ingredient? All she had to do was write down the entree plus the add on. She wrote down two different entrees. Luckily I questioned the total and asked her for a break down of the pricing and that's when she seemed flustered and annoyed. She had a calculator in her hand yet was doing the math in her head and carrying extra 1s here and there to inflate the total. I double checked her math and made sure it was right. I don't know if they're doing these things intentionally to scam people but the owner treated us completely differently when we first came in compared to when we were about to pay for the "corrected amount". He seemed annoyed that the server got caught inflating the checks. They were also rushing people. I know it's the holidays and they're very busy but they were very adamant that people come in and get out as quickly as possible. The food wasn't even good. It was a 4/10 at best. You can tell they were in a rush to make and serve the food. Also READ THE MENU CAREFULLY. A 15% tip is automatically included for a party of 4 or more people so when you pay, they'll ask if you wanna leave a tip and it's 15% minimum so you'll end up tipping twice. It's in the fine print of their menu on the back side. They just don't tell you when you go to Pay, they just ask if you want to add a tip even though it's already incldued in your bill. It's a bit sleezy and dishonest so just check your bill...
Read moreI was skeptical at first, but we gave it a try. It was winter in NYC so we wanted a warm place to eat good homey food and this hit the spot! There were four of us, wife and kids, they immediately asked for our COVID shot proof which made me feel safe that they cared about compliance to NYC regulations and now I could eat there with less of a concern with COVID. I figure if everyone there is vaccinated I should be safe to take off my mask to eat. So this place passed that requirement. We sat next to the door and they really did check everyone to our surprise and delight. Now for the food, they had many items to choose from, more than the typical restaurant. We ordered the Ruben, burger and the gyro. All we good. Good enough that the place was constantly packed. It looks like a good family run restaurant. Bathrooms are small and really warm, and need to be tidied up some for cleanliness but it was ok I guess. Back to the food, my Reuben sandwich on rye was nice. Real corn beef sliced medium and real sauerkraut and a slice of cheese served warm. Not the best I’ve had but it was pretty good. Not too salty or overwhelming, just right served with fries, pickle slices and small cups of Cole slaw. Overall, I’d go back for sure. Neat place, cozy, good food and the price was ok, a little expensive for what you get but not too bad. So yes,...
Read moreSo my wife and I waited approx 15 mins inside the restaurant to be seated, when the owner who was working a shift asked us if we would like to share a booth with the couple behind us whom we had never met. The individual behind us emphatically replied with a resounding NO!! I was rather insulted to be asked this after our wait as I found this to be a pure money mongering move. Our orders arrived and shortly after I found a hair under one of the potatoes on my plate. Bringing this to the attention of my waitress, who was profusely apologetic, she delivered the plate to the owner with an explanation. After a few minutes he returned the plate explaining to me that bristles from brushes occasionally stick to the food consumed by patrons. I found this to be completely unacceptable. Bristles should not be side orders to your meal. By the way, it was indeed a HAIR on my food, not a brush bristle. Either one would be unacceptable. The owner did not offer an apology, nor did he offer any other form of compensation. I wasn’t looking for one...an apology would have been sufficient instead of the gruff and rude response I received as if it was my fault to notice the hair on my plate. This place is very overpriced ...more than 50 dollars US for two breakfasts... and the owner does not display any respect for his patrons. Will...
